OOC: I've been waiting for this entry for almost two years. So people, please, please respond to it? Don't make me and Ralph sad? Many of her old friends have already disappeared... Please respond

A curious pair of eyes poked out of a bush. It was a nice day, and needing to stretch her limbs a bit, squirrel-Kate climbed trees and dove from branch to branch having fun in the early summer's warmth. But that sounded almost like thunder...no, not thunder. Something else. Something loud. Something closeOn four clawed feet she scampered up into the nearest tree and down a low-hanging branch to see what was going on. A cloud was on the horizon, but not one that hinted at a late afternoon shower. This cloud was a billowing mass of smoke and dust and could only mean one of two things: either someone was badly hurt, or that Ralph was bored. Figuring that it was probably the latter she hopped back down onto the ground and zipped along the grass in that direction to go and say 'hi' to her surrogate sister and best friend. And if she was wrong, someone would need her help and she would soon be there

No one could, indeed, be thrown over such a distance without getting hurt. Not even the body of a Slayer could stand against such force. Her body would certainly be black and blue in the morning, and chances were high she had a broken rib or two. Most importantly, and hardly noticeable at the moment, was that her head had crashed hard against the wall as well. And although not lethal, it had caused quite some damage.
Other, more visible wounds on Ralph's body were burns, though for a Slayer hardly of any concern. They were burns that, if a Slayer's body could not heal them, an experienced healer of magical healing spells could fix it.
Still, even though Ralph had been lucky to survive this, even though she was still breathing... she remained unconscious and not even the tearful pleas of her young 'sister' could pull her out of it.
"Ralph....please, Ralph...." Kate buried her face into Ralph's chest as she pulled her close, too distraught to think clearly. "Please wake up..."
With her head pressed so close, she could hear a faint pulse. She could feel the light breaths along her neck. Ralph was still alive; weakened and hurting, but still alive. And as long as she was still alive, she would be all right. If Katelyn got her to the Infirmary quick enough, that is.
Holding her closest friend even closer, the large feathered wings emerging from Katelyn's back again began to beat against the wind. "Just hold on," Kate whispered to her unconscious friend. "I'll, get you to a healer. You're gonna be okay..."
OOC: Wanted to go for Liz, but... thought it'd be more fun if I used Vanya here. XDVanya was already in the infirmary when Kate arrived with the unconscious form of Ralph. She had to be there for her daily check-up by the doctor, though the sudden light trembling of the ground as well as a sudden flood of pain, confusion and sadness did not really help for the weak Seer

Katelyn worriedly paced back and forth. So distracted was she that she never thought to revert back to her fully-human form, the large bird-like wings that she flew in on still emerging from her back. Her thoughts were elsewhere at the moment. Her thoughts were with Ralph, the closest thing to family that she had. She could not even be at her side right now, as healers both magical and mundane rushed to her aid. All she could do was wait
( ... )
Vanya shook her head; no questions, she didn't know how she knew. The doctors had said nothing, and this did not belong to powers. But still she knew Ralph would be alright, one way or the other.
"She'll be alright," Vanya repeated. "She..." Her voice was then cut off and her eyes narrowed. "No, she's not alright. Her head came against a wall. It may not be bleeding externally, but blood is gathering near the back of her skull, crushing on her brains. Internal bleeding... and the doctors don't know it."
Eyes now directed at Katelyn. "Go tell them. You have the strength to shout louder than I can. Tell the doctors to check the brain for internal bleeding. Tell them to look at her brain."
Kate desperately hoped for some good news. None came, but those simple words of reassurance was what she needed most right now. She didn't know why Vanya was suddenly being so nice and for the time being she did not care. She needed that support, even if it came from an unexpected source, and she was almost ready to wrap her arms around a former enemy, hold onto her and cry when those next words came. Vanya didn't need to say a word. When she stopped speaking, and had that look in her eye...Kate did not question one who governed over life and death.
Those words hit Katelyn hard, and she staggered backwards as if reeling from a blow. As the severity of the Seer's words finally dawned on her, without saying a word to Vanya she spun around, knocking things over as she ran. "Doctor!" The wild, winged girl screamed out at the top of her lungs. "Doc!!!"
Vanya watched for a few more moments, then turned around to walk back inside the examination room. The world did not need her anymore at this moment...
Inside the other room, everyone was busy to treat the hurt Ralph. Burns came first, and the thought to check for other injuries had not come to their attention. But Katelyn's voice got their attention, even in the midst of this emergency.
"Miss Rose. What is it?" the doctor said, trying to be friendly, but still sounding impatient. The current situation demanded his full attention and he had little time for anything else...
"Blood!" She was upset. Her thoughts were scattered. She barely believed that all of this was truly happening, and that perhaps this was some bad dream. Some bad dream that Liz would soon shake her awake from, only to find herself safe and warm under the covers in her own bed. But that awakening did not come. Names and faces were a blur, and had Kate not grown used to operating on pure instinct she would certainly be at a loss of what to do.
"Blood!" Again she cried out, tugging on the the sleeve of the nearest doctor's lab coat and pulling him towards her bedridden friend. "In Ralph's head...blood...you can't see!" Her other hand reached towards the base of her own skull, holding the spot that Vanya had tried to describe to her before she had rushed off. "Her head, it hit a wall. Help her!"
It took the doctor a few moments to realize what Katelyn tried to say. But once he did, orders were immediately shouted. Orders to call for an ambulance, and for an injection to thicken the blood and hopefully keep Ralph from dying until she was in the safe hands of the surgeons at the nearest hospital.
Everything seemed to go fast after that and in all the rush of getting Ralph to safety, Katelyn was pushed out of the way. The ambulance arrived at the campus and the medical staff hurried to get the woman in the ambulance.
Less than half an hour later, the ambulance took off with Ralph inside, making sure she would survive it.
OOC: I don't know how fast ambulances are. I just guessed something. But feel free to adjust it in your mind to "fifteen" or "twenty minutes" if that's more appropriate.
"Ooof!" Kate was knocked on her butt as doctors, nurses, and the occasional teacher or patient all rushed around in the chaos. It was normally easy for her not to worry. Katelyn was certainly one to take things as they come and let Nature run its course. But she was on the verge of panic knowing that Ralph was hurting so badly, and if she heard word of her condition from the lips of a necromancer...that could not be a good sign at all
( ... )
Most doctors and nurses on the floor Katelyn had ended up paid little attention to her. They all assumed she was one of the visitors or something like that. Either way, as long as she did nothing suspicious, they didn't consider her as important.
But Ralph had entered the hospital a floor lower than Katelyn did, and when the girl climbed down the stairs and tried to find her friend, she almost automatically ended up at the reception. The receptionist caught sight of the wandering girl, since she seemed to be a bit lost, and leaned a bit over the counter.
The short flight helped Katelyn to recompose herself. She was still upset, as well she should be if her sister and best friend had to be rushed to a surgeon in an ambulance, but the time it took her to reach the hospital provided her with the time to come to grips with the situation.
She looked around, but the chestnut-haired schoolgirl didn't really expect to just bump into Ralph in the halls. Surely the doctors were looking at her immediately, and instead she needed to know where Ralph would be once they had fixed her up. As she worked her way down from the top floor she soon stumbled across what she truly sought - a woman working at a desk that seemed to know the lay of the land. Even better, she already offered her help.
"Yeah, I'm looking for Ralph," Kate said. "A girl named Ralph." That certainly should narrow things down without much further explanation, though anxiously she continued on. "She, came in here. In an ambulance. She was hurt, real bad, and was burned up and had blood inside her brains." There was noticeable worry
