Bombing accident

OOC: I've been waiting for this entry for almost two years. So people, please, please respond to it? Don't make me and Ralph sad? Many of her old friends have already disappeared... Please respond?

Takes place the next day after that strip club thread with Jessie. I doubt they'll have spoken about it in the morning, so Ralph still feels stressed out, angry, upset... and this is her way to relax.

Yesterday hadn't gone as she'd planned and she hadn't been able to concentrate on stuff today. She felt oddly frustrated, even upset after all that happened yesterday evening. What had started as just another nice day at a strip club had turned into something quite different, involving the exchange of words she now regretted, fights and even a screwed up attempt to make things right with Jessie.

They hadn't spoken to each other after that. Of course, it had been late and Seven returned shortly after it. Ralph had tried to sleep, but she managed to catch only brief naps. It was her guilt, her frustration, and all of that which kept her awake. As soon as the sun crept into their room, Ralph had left without a word. Almost unconsciously, she tried to avoid her blonde roommate.

To relax and to get rid of all the unnecessary bad feelings inside her, Ralph had taken her collection of explosives she'd made. She found the bangs and trembling rather reassuring. This was something she knew, it wasn't as complicated as human emotions and it was always a pretty sight to see something big explode.

The one she was currently working on would be a big one, though. One with a bang, it might leave her deaf for several days, and the ground will tremble and shake as if there was an earthquake. Ralph already felt adrenaline flowing through her veins. It pushed aside everything about last night, and it filled her with exhilaration and excitement. She was proud on this one. It had taken her months to finish it. The sight would be wonderful to behold.

Ralph walked back to a safe distance. That had been lesson number one when she started on this. Also, for safety, she always made her bombs in such a way that they could be set off with a remote control. Easy as that. Just one push at the button and the thing would explode. Ralph already prepared herself to the loud bang and other things that would come; things that would catch the rest of the school unprepared. With a huge grin, she pushed the button.

And nothing happened.

Disappointment could be clearly seen on her face. Had she done something wrong? Was the cable not properly connected? This thing worked, right? Ralph tried it again, and again, but still nothing happened.

Maybe it was slow. Ralph waited impatiently. It happened sometimes, that a bomb had a delayed reaction. She waited a minute, five minutes, ten minutes... still nothing. If nothing happened after ten minutes, she was certain nothing would happen at all and that something was wrong with the cables. The bomb expert walked closer to her own creation, alert for the smallest thing, ready to sprint away should it still decide to explode. Getting closer, getting closer still...

A sudden loud explosion, followed by the shaking and trembling of the earth, caught not only the school by surprise. Ralph was only half aware of what was going on as a force greater than she could imagine threw her through the sky until she landed with her head against the wall of the PE building, where it left her unconsciously on the ground.
