I think it's time to start dismantling the pallets so we can build an ark.
There's tornadoes in Ventura. I'm starting to think that "The Day After Tomorrow" comparison isn't so farfetched...

We went to my cousin's baby shower yesterday. It was a pretty calm affair, because she's on moderate bed rest and couldn't get up very much. I won a candle at baby bingo, go me. *g*
The names for the babies are Jonah and Javan -- the latter is pronounced JAY-ven. Jonah I've heard of, Javan, not so much. Guess he's a grandson of Noah.
I've been thinking that this is the second set of twins carried by cousins in my generation, but my grandmother reminded me this weekend that another of my cousins was carrying twins, but unfortunately, she lost one of the babies. That makes three sets of twins in my generation.
Gift Giving Tip for Baby Showers, for those you who might be interested.
Wrap the gift in a receiving blanket, using another receiving blanket as the "tissue paper" inside the box, around the gift. Fasten with diaper pins -- or large safety pins, if you can't find diaper pins (God knows we couldn't!). Pin the small gifts, like socks and antiscratch mitts and cloth rattles/toys to the front of the gift. I guarantee you'll get reactions. My mom's been doing it since someone wrapped a gift like that for her baby shower when she was pregnant with me, and every time she does it, people go, "Oh my God, that's so cute, I'm going to have to steal that idea!"
PS - When the person is unwrapping it, tell them the easiest thing to do is unpin one side and slide the gift out. Or, you could just be entertained watching them try and unpin every side of it. Takes forever. *g*

Had a minor freakout last night when I couldn't find my binder of autographs. It's the only "collection" I own, and I started it in '93. It's not huge, but it's sizeable, and I couldn't find it. Searched the house as much as I could before I went to bed, but it was nowhere to be found, and I couldn't exactly tear the house apart since both my parents were asleep.
So this morning I asked my mom if she's seen it, and she said she has seen it recently. This is how the conversation went:
Her: "Did you check the living room?"
Me: "Yes."
Her: "The den?"
Me: "Yes."
Her: "The computer room?"
Me: "Yes. Tore it apart."
Her: "Did you check your car? The trunk? Under the seats?"
Me: "Yes, and yes."
Her: "Did you check on top of the dryer?"
Me: "No, why would it be there?"
Three guesses where it was.
The binder was in one of my backpacks, hiding under a tangle of clean towels and socks. So, yay, found it! Whew, I was about ready to cry.

Finished my read-through of my nanowrimo manuscript. I'm debating on whether I should do one more read-through, since I did find errors the last time through. I'm just a little nervous since I'm the only one editing it and once it's bound, that's it -- no changes. I'll probably do one more.

I want to do the movies meme that everyone else is doing, but my problem is that while I like lots of movies, I'm crap at remembering the lines until I actually watch the movies, so I'll have to do some research. Which I can do now because, once again, it's D-E-D dead here.
