I sympathize with you on that. I generally try to avoid stimulants at work, but it never ceases to amaze me how much better my mood is and how much less bored I am if I have a guru. coffee not so much.
I don't think the jobs are designed to be easier if you take stimulants. I think that is a byproduct of the work.
maybe i should invest in lots and lots of guru then, as i'd much rather pound one or two of those back than a double espresso from consumerwhorebucks...
They are, but only if you consider the kind of natural selection going on in the job market "design".

But in cases like this, it's not enough for those dictating the work to simply avoid consciously designing work that's "just naturally" easier on drugs. Everyone KNOWS they're easier on drugs; effort must be made to push back against this tendency to become dependent on it. And, of course, employers won't do that.
