Hokay, so here is ze Earth... and last Wednesday, I didn’t do anything interesting at all. Trust me. Thursday, since it was Valentine’s Day, Mom came to visit. I had to pick up some items, including my hair dye, and then we ate at Carlos O’Kelly’s. It got a little awkward at dinner because we ran out of things to say, but it was all right. She took my leftover food with her because I knew I wouldn’t eat it here, even though it tasted so good. We came back to campus, filled out the FAFSA together, and then she left. I went to the lounge, and people were playing Rock Band, but I went upstairs to Brian’s room with Krista, Ruu, and Alex, and we watched episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Alex and I shared the loft, and it was quite comfortable.
I was going to leave after the third episode, as we called it quits for the night, but I went down to the lounge and ended up singing a couple songs for Rock Band. I got back to my room and went to sleep. And I ended up sleeping during my classes too... oops. I mean, at least I showed up, but I wasn’t really there mentally. We were watching a video in anthropology and Becca said she turned to talk to me and I was completely out. She found it amusing.
I met my friend Anna for lunch at 2:00. We didn’t see much of each other during the semester, but we’ve decided that meeting for lunch on Fridays would be a great idea. She’s pretty awesome. After lunch, I went to the lounge and hung out for a little bit. I left and went to my room so I could make myself pretty for my date with Alex. Yeah... It was pretty much a date and probably my first official one at that, and boy, was it fun.
I showed up to Botswin a few minutes later than I had wanted to. Caitie saw me on the way over, though, and she wanted to see how gorgeous I looked. I was having dress problems - as in, I was pretty much flashing the world my bosom. Caitie helped fix that, though, and used a hair tie to pull my dress’s straps back so it wouldn’t be so loose.
At least we got that problem fixed. Alex looked pretty good. He had on a suit and a purple paisley tie, and he had his hair in a fauxhawk. In fact, not to sound conceited (sorry if it does), but we both looked fantastic, and we were the best-dressed people at the dance later on. Muahahaha...sexy.
Anyway, Alex gave me flowers. I was really surprised, because unless you count Jack getting me a corsage at prom, I hadn’t received flowers before. They weren’t just any flowers, though. They were lilies. Lilies. My favorite... I was awestruck. He had given them to me right before Caitie swept me into the bathroom to fix my dress, and I held them, just doing a miniature spastic giddy freak-out because they were lilies...
We walked out to his car and went to Red Lobster, but it was packed and there was an hour-long wait. We didn’t know what to do or where to go, he said to me, “I don’t want to sound tacky, but how does Steak ‘n’ Shake sound?” I just smiled and said that it sounded great to me, which it really did. So we went there, and there was a small crowd, but we were served quickly. It was delightful, really. Much better than Red Lobster, for sure.
We went to the dance, and it was a bit lame. There weren’t that many people there, but we hung out with Jason, Julie, Krista, and Brian, and we danced the whole time we were there. And since Brian was DJ, it was excellent music.
After the dance ended, I grabbed my backpack from Schmidt/Wilson and then we went to Botswin. We made it back before midnight and gave each other high-fives. We paraded around in our fancy clothes. Then we both changed and watched Star Trek IV together. I left for Schmidt/Wilson after the movie ended.
Saturday, I hung out in the lounge. Alex and I made papercraft Katamari princes and later on during the night, we went to Late Nite, where we tie-dyed t-shirts and made love beads. I returned to the lounge and Kristin dyed my hair red. It was a mess, and I ended up walking around the lounge for two hours with a towel wrapped around my shoulders. I like my new hair, though. I’ll try to post a picture of it soon.
When my hair was rinsed and dried, Alex and I watched Star Trek V. At the beginning of the movie, he asked me if I would be his girlfriend, and I accepted. Joy and happiness abound!
I returned to my dorm room, and I noticed that since Thursday night, Kayla was missing. I don’t know where she went, although I didn’t really care. We haven’t talked to each other in at least two weeks. Again, not that I care.
Sunday I was bored in the lounge again, but I went with Ruu and Teddy to Cooper so Ruu could feed the bats. I took some pretty cool pictures of the bats. Then I was part of a group watching the American Gladiator finale, and I was bored some more after that. We played this simple, fun game called LCR at one point, but I left a little bit after that.
This week has been rather uneventful. I have received many positive reactions to my hair. This morning I woke up early so that I could sign up for my room next year. You’re looking at one of the new residents of Botsford 416! It’s a square double and the window faces the V. I can’t wait.
It snowed today, about three or four inches. I was hoping that maybe one of my many classes would get cancelled, but no. I figure that even if it was raining hellfire, I would still have classes. However, I got out of my dreaded geology lab an hour early, and I’m so glad. I got back to the lounge and a group was about to leave to go to Goodwill. Alex drove, Chris rode shotgun, and then Missy, Blake, Scott, Teddy, and I were crammed in the back. We went to Goodwill and had fun. I was tempted to buy William Gibson’s Pattern Recognition for two dollars, but I decided against it. I actually didn’t spend any money in our group. Teddy found a Rick Astley cassette for fifty cents and bought it, and we ended up playing it on full blast while cruising down McKinley with the windows rolled down. It was entertaining.
Now I’m just hanging out in the lounge. Nothing much going on. It’s poker night, so a lot of people are downstairs in the Swinford basement playing. Lemmy is trying to convince me to have him be the godfather of my children. Do you think he’s getting a little ahead of himself, perhaps?
