Oh, it’s been a crazy week. I’ve been so bad with my priorities lately. I mean, at least I still do my homework and go to class, but I’ve been staying up way too late. Monday, after American Gladiators and hall council, we watched Idle Hands. Scott got it in the mail, and I hadn’t seen it in years. We watched it and it was great fun, and then Lemmy convinced me to stay and watch Drawn Together with them, even though it was about 2:30 in the morning. So, I left around 3:30. This wasn’t the beginning of my downward spiral into staying up until ungodly hours of the morning on class nights.
For fun, we’ve designated different themes to the days of the week. Alex is mainly responsible for them, but they are as follows: Mondays are American Gladiator nights, we have Argyle Tuesdays, Poker (for those who play) Wednesdays, Rock Band Thursdays, and Midnight Soccer Fridays, although we can’t play midnight soccer again until it gets warmer, much warmer.
So on Argyle Tuesday, I decided to search eBay for an argyle sweater, and I found one. In fact, it was so perfect that I accidentally bought it. It was more of like, a slip of my judgment, but I bought it. I was freaking out about it, but everything turned out all right.
On Wednesday, I just hung out and about in the lounge. We watched Ninja Warrior and not much else. It was poker night, and since I don’t play poker, I wasn’t. I was up in the fourth floor study lounge where they were doing it, though, and it was crazy how many participants there were. In the end, Alex won the Pimp Cup. I was very happy for him.
Thursday was filled with Rock Band. We stopped because there was a hall program going on. We were watching Teddy play Assassin’s Creed, and Scott was planning out his, Dan and Alex’s fourth floor triple for next year. While he was doing it, Alex asked me if I was still interested in going to the Fire and Ice Dance that is going on this Friday. I said that I didn’t know, and he asked me if I would like to go with him. So I’m going, and I’m really excited about it. After the hall program was over, we played Rock Band some more. Scott, Dan, and Missy ended up making waffles, bacon, and toast at about 3:00 or so before I went back to Schmidt/Wilson.
Friday was really good. I didn’t have geology, and then I got out of history early. I was sleepy, and I ended up taking a two-hour nap. I woke up, went to dinner, and went bowling with Julie, Jason, Sarah, Lemmy, and Alex. We had fun nicknames. I was “Bird Gehrl,” Julie was “Middy,” Jason was “JShupe,” Sarah was “Bananaphone,” Alex was “Papa Funk,” and Lemmy was “ROFLobster.” I didn’t do that great, but I did better than I have before. I got a couple strikes and spares, and once after getting a spare, I walked back and said, “I picked up that spare like it was a hooker!”
We came back to the lounge, and then a group of Humans vs. Zombies players were meeting just for some fun with Nerf guns. I was a zombie, of course, even though I was ready to be a human with my balled-up socks. It was so much fun with our little group, though, but it started raining and we went back to Botswin and played Rock Band. I stayed until around 5:00 and for once, returned to Schmidt/Wilson to sleep.
Saturday was also fun. Nick had gone home for his birthday, and not that many people were around. Sarah, Krista, and I hung out in Sarah’s room coloring pictures for Nick’s door and gossiping like girls do. Then, around 5:00, the three of us met Alex down in the lounge, and we went to Indianapolis. We went to Circle Center, and we had to tell him, “You know, you’re with three girls... we’re going to want to shop. You have to tell us what you want to do.” He said that he knew what he was getting into when he drove us.
We browsed around but didn’t buy anything. We were hungry and we had Alex decide where to eat. Alex. We went to Hard Rock Café, and oh, the food was delicious. After dinner, we went to White River State Park. It was around 10:00 or so, and it was dark, cold, and extremely windy. Alex had miniature kites in his car, and we tried flying them, but the wind was too strong. It was really fun, though, until we got too cold and got back into Alex’s car and went back to Ball State.
A group of us watched The Truman Show in Brian’s room, but his computer crashed. Sarah had the DVD and that enabled us to finish it. Then we were just hanging around in the hallway until we were told to go to a room by James, the fourth floor RA. Scott, Teddy, and I went to Scott’s room and lay on Scott’s bed. We talked until around 7:30, and then Scott got up and dragged Dan’s mattress over to his side of the room and slept on it, leaving the bed for Teddy and me.
I left Botswin in the early afternoon and then returned later. We watched episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Bullshit in Brian’s room until late into the night.
I had a good day on Monday. After anthropology, Becca and I had lunch, and then I was hanging out in the lounge and I received my e-mail from Wal-Mart saying that my camera was in. Teddy and I rode the MITS bus to Wal-Mart and picked up my camera, and it is amazing. I’m so excited to have it, and it takes such beautiful pictures!
We watched American Gladiators, and they had Hall Council right after that (But apparently it only took six minutes - a record! Usually they last at least an hour!). I went up to Leigh and Kristin’s room and Kristin was doing a photo shoot. If you don’t count Rocky Horror, this was my first shoot. Kristin curled my hair and put makeup on me, and I was wearing one of her gray tank tops. We went into the bathroom and she had me strip to my underwear and the tank top and turned on one of the showers to take pictures. It was quite an experience, I’d say. I returned to their room, which was full of other people, just dripping wet.
After I put my pants and shirt back on, I went down the lounge. Scott and Dan were trying to talk Alex into making a late night Steak and Shake run. He resisted, but we went upstairs and we played MarioKart 64 in Scott and Dan’s room with them and Tom and it was a lot of fun. I left around 2:30, and then I decided I would go back to my building. However, I went to the lounge and saw Nick, Kristin, Lemmy, and Brian and ended up hanging out there until about 3:30. I returned to my room to find that Kayla had taken down her loft. Nice enough to tell me, huh? I can’t wait until next year. I am getting really tired of sharing my room with Kayla. I don’t think we’ve even spoken to each other in two weeks.
Today, my alarm didn’t go off. I woke up around 9:00 for my 8:00 class that was to end at 9:15. I went and stayed for another section of the class and got my first paper back. Blah.
After rhythmic aerobics, I decided to clean up my side of the room a bit. I took out my trash and put away papers. It looks much better. I was going to clean the fishbowl, and then I looked inside it. David Bowie, my beloved fish, was dead! I was going to take my shower first, but I cleaned out the bowl and flushed David Bowie down the toilet first instead. That just sucks. He was alive yesterday...oh well. Life goes on.
I took my shower and got dressed. I wore my sexy new argyle sweater, and it’s perfect. I went to the lounge and a group of us went to IHoP. I was squished in the back with the guys, haha. However, it seemed everyone had the same idea as us to go get free short stacks. The place was so crowded, and we waited for a little bit, but we ended up leaving. I was sad. I really felt that I deserved those free pancakes. It’s okay, though.
We returned to campus and a few people went to go see Evita. I ate dinner with a bunch of the guys, and it was fun. I did my German homework, but avoided reading for my anthropology class. Kristin talked me into doing another photo shoot, as well as a few more of us. Basically, we were topless in the snow. It was really freaking cold, of course, but we supported each other, and there are some fantastic photographs. Oh the things people do for the sake of art!
Now I’m getting the feeling back in my toes and relaxing. Who knows, I might actually get to bed early tonight! I can only go so far on sleep deprivation...
