Star Trek Friendship Fest
There's a friendship-fic exchange going on over here at ao3 that's pretty cool. I'm looking forward to it - I'm half tempted to change my 'offers' option to 'any' just to see what I get. It's one of my favourite things about exchanges, writing stuff you wouldn't necessarily write.

Below is my 'Dear Author' Letter
[dear author letter]Hello fellow Trekkie! I'm really excited for this exchange because its friendship based. I love reading stuff about the characters enjoying each other's company in their time off (or while they are working lol). I'm really easy to please.
General Stuff: I love character study pieces, people socializing in their off time, girls night in and they get drunk and gossip and laugh, women using their brains to solve shit, science is awesome, teasing and joking, friends that lovingly meddle in their friends love lives, hurt/comfort, bonding, sad confessionals with happy endings, angst with happy ending, crack fic, tropey fic, case fic, politics, holodeck adventures. Also, don't feel limited by the two characters in the nominated pairing, if you'd like to throw in another character (or two) for like a party situation or whatever, go ahead. Especially if it's female characters. More gen fic about women! OH! And cross them over if you want too! Like Pulaski would totally come to DS9; she'd run into Worf again, etc.
I love the strength and tenacity of all these characters. I love hearing about their pasts and how they are changing. Or if they aren't Terran, how they adjust to life within Starfleet
Squicks: noncon (can be talked about if you're doing me a bonding/healing story and it happened to a character), self harm/suicide, breaking up my ships (which are listed below), incest.
I've listed my ships below, but this is a gen fest, so go right ahead and ignore them. I've only listed them incase you're going to mention them or whatever - as those topics do come up in conversations between friends.
TNG: I'm pretty open to any ships here.
DS9: Bashir/Garak is really the only DS9 ship I have that I wouldn't want to break up; I like Kira/Odo but I'm flexible if you ship them with other people. I really like the political crap between the Bajorans and the Cardassians.
VGR: Janeway/Chakotay. Friggen OTP of Time right there. I also really like Tom/Belanna and Seven/Kes but I'm not tied to them. Oh and Naomi/Icheb. No 7/J or C/7 please.
Beverly Crusher & Katherine Pulaski
let them do science together and push the boundaries of medicine and save the world and like each other with giant professional respect. I think they'd work well together because Pulaski is so focused and lacks the 'human' side of her profession while Beverly is so sympathetic that her emotions sometimes prevent her from pushing her limits.
Guinan & Jean-Luc Picard
God, these two. They have this intense relationship; he trusts her more than he does anyone else in the universe. Why? How? How does she feel? Do they ever *not* discuss matters of philosophy and saving the world. Does he know when her birthday is? (no romance between them please).
Julian Bashir & Jadzia Dax
One of my absolute fic tropes for these two is that Jadzia assumes that Julian is dating Garak but he isn’t aware of it and she gets all wise and meddling on them. Because she’s wise and his #1 wing man.
Kathryn Janeway & B’Elanna Torres
These two are my headcanon brOTP. Like they are totally best friends and hang out together in their off hours and love spending time doing science and crawling around the ship fixing things.
Keiko O’Brien & Kira Nerys
She carried her baby, that has to bond people to one another. What's it like for Kira to have a friend who isn't a soldier, who grew up in a happy home, whose life is pretty organized? And what's it like for Keiko to have this badass friend that pushes her and challenges her to have actual fun outside of a botany lab.
Kes & Seven of Nine
I actually ship these two, so if you went romantic I'd love it. But gen friendship is great too. Seven is a trauma survivor and I'd think that Kes would be there for her in a way that blurred the line between counsellor and friend and would be invested in her in a different way than Janeway; more like a peer than a mentor. And Seven would push Kes to trust her powers and explore them.
Kira Nerys & Tora Ziyal
I love their relationship. Nerys genuinely loves her (like a daughter or a sister whatever) and I love how complicated that must be for her. She’s hated Cardassians her entire life yet here’s this woman that she doesn’t hate. And Ziyal, the guilt she might feel over who her father is. I’m not opposed to some UST between Kira & Dukat, because that was definitely there in the series.
Data & Seven of Nine
These two would have the most interesting conversations. Observations about humanity, the universe, about creation, about identity, about the irritations of their mechanical parts failing, etc.
