Been pondering doing a post for days now, but just hadn't gotten around to it. So here I sit at SIFF with not much to do, so I thought I'd take advantage of the slow time and catch up with all of you.
I'm working two days a week at SIFF now. Tuesdays I'm at the receptionist desk, just like always. But on Wednesdays I'm upstairs working with SIFF's wonderful graphic artist, Tyler, helping him finalize the graphics for SIFF's upcoming 2016 Festival. It's really cool because I'll be working with every single graphic attached to the 2016 festival. They'll go into the BIG SIFF Festival catalog, flyers, and even up on the screen when we preview films. SIFF is one of the biggest film festivals in the country so it's really a big responsibility. I'm enjoying using those skills again. I'm pretty dang good with Photoshop if I do say so myself, as I've tried to show you in icons, background, calendars... etc. So it's fun to do it for SIFF.
Also... I've got an announcement that many... or even MOST of you... won't believe. I've written an AU!!
I know. I've never much liked AU's in the past but this one's been banging around in my brain for a long time now and I finally decided to take the plunge and write the damn thing. It's a Sean and Elijah AU, but I won't say it's a Sean and Elijah 'story'. It's not RPF. It could probably best be described as an original character story that uses the names of my all-time favorite OTP. I'm just more comfortable writing them, and it makes me understand a lot more about why authors WRITE AU's with their favorite RPF OTP's.
It's hard writing S&E stories now, at least as RPF characters. They're just not together as much anymore so the inspiration isn't what it used to be. You end up writing the same damn story over and over because there's no NEW plot bunnies being awakened in your brain. So.. I feel I owe an apology to those AU writers who I didn't read in the past because they weren't strictly RPF fiction. I get it now. And I hope all of you who read this upcoming story like it and take it to your hearts. Cathy has it now and is giving it her professional once-over. Once she sends it back to me I'll make any corrections it needs and post it.
I also sent it to one of my very favorite Sean/Elijah authors,
ink_gypsy and asked her if she'd read it over and give me her opinion. I haven't heard back from her yet, probably because she hasn't been on line lately. I do hope she likes it.
I'm wondering now if I shouldn't have just written the damn thing with two other names and called it an OC story. I feel really confused about the merits of either side of this issue so if any of you have opinions, I'd love to hear them. Is it silly to use the names 'Sean' and 'Elijah' when 'technically' it's not a Sean and Elijah RPF story? Or does it matter? It probably doesn't because who's going to read it anyway? Probably not many people. But, I'm still curious about what your thoughts may be on the issue.
Springtimes is fast approaching in Seattle and I have to tell you that it is a glorious time of the year. Took this on Saturday during a walk that Cathy and I did in Redmond, WA. It was just the most beautiful day! We were walking along the Cedar river up to where it flows into Lake Washington. We just loved every minute of it.
We've also been working out with DVD's done by Leslie Sansone. She does
'Walk at Home' DVD's and videos and they are just amazing. I have several of her DVD's and we switch between them for our workout when it's raining here or too cold to walk outside. Leslie incorporates a bit of strength training with her 'walks' and the result is a really, REALLY good workout!
I need something to shake things up. My weight has been hovering between 156 and 158 for months now. I'm seriously thinking of asking my doctor to change my goal weight to 160 and just be done with it. I just don't think my body wants to get below 155. It just refuses, no matter how little I eat!! Frustrating!!!
Anyway... hope all of you are doing well. Happy Springtime!!!!
