Not Enough Posting, Posts Getting Huge...

Bummer.

At Lulu’s again. I’m at a back table and again I’m having sporadic net access. I checked the DNS lease and it’s set to 10 minutes. I can’t figure out if it’s the location or something with the router here at the shop. It turns this hugely expensive gaming laptop into a word processor but since I’m trying to write more anyway, I’m okay with it for now. Just asked a guy who was packing from having his laptop at a different location. He reported sporadic connectivity all day long. I guess there’s just something wrong with their router.

I’m still drawn to playing games with other people. I try every once in a while to play a single player game, but either the game isn’t drawing my attention like it’s supposed to or I’m just phasing that part of my life out for other things. After the ability to show off in front of people, (even if they’re people who are online far away), playing a game and showing off to myself just doesn’t draw me.

To this end, I might give WoW on a PvP server a shot. I’ve never been one to enjoy PvP, but at this point, it’s about the only thing that’s going to draw me to the game again, I think. I realized that I don’t feel an urge to play my priest past hitting 60 so I might as well stop playing him now. Everyone else is making much better priests so I might as well play a class I enjoy, instead.

The week was good. I’m really starting to get into the swing of the job. It could be that I’m working on things that I understand better. Either way, I’m not as lost so I’m feeling better about it.

Asher’s gone for an open ended, 3 week stint to the UK. He might be back sooner; he might be back later. Everything depends on the client and how much good they feel he’s accomplishing there. Either way, I’ll miss him. The office is really quiet when he’s gone.

‘Becca and I came to Lulu’s last night. It was pretty cool. We sat and talked about horoscopes and various things. I did some drawing and am working on the exercises from the book. I haven’t been able to keep up with my hour a night promise to myself, but I’m doing more than I was, so I’ll count it as a minor victory.

I ran out of HD space on the laptop this morning. You’d think 60 GB could last me a while. I cleaned up some stuff I didn’t “really” need, and emptied the recycle bin. I’m doing much better now.

I’ve had various story ideas float through my head. I should probably write them down, and could, now that I have a method for it. I’m not sure where, or even if, I should post them. They’re the kinds of stories that you want to post anonymously to newsgroups.

I cancelled on Dale this Friday. I didn’t have any battles pending and he was going to be busy early tomorrow. It would have been a lot of driving for seeing him for about 4 hours. Granted, I very much like to see Dale and want to. However, this week’s been really bad for sleep and my leg’s been hurting more and more. It’s hurting right now, even. I don’t know what to do about it. I’ve tried stretching it and being nice to it, but nothing’s been helping. Maybe it’s just one of those getting old things.

With the leg hurting, the AC and heaters partly out in my car, the top falling apart, the constant smell of gasoline, and the poor engine response, I’ve been thinking of buying a new car. Not just a new car for me, but a new, new car. One of those that looses $5K of value once you drive it off the parking lot. So far, the two that I’ve been toying with in my mind are the new Ford Thunderbird (~$40K) and the Mini Cooper S Convertible (~$27K). They’re quite a step up from my current car that cost me $5K.

They would come with all of the amenities. Cruise control (no more strain on the leg for long drives.) AC and heat that works (always nice, even here in California.) A working top (no more being rained on *inside* the car.) The only smell in the car being “new car” (not that I couldn’t get that at a parts supply store, but a lot of people tell me the current one smells like moldy gasoline.) Good pickup (the car weighs about the same as mine but has almost twice as much horsepower and a six speed transmission.)

Well, that was… Fun? I went and priced out Mini Coopers and T-Birds. The T-Bird came out to $37K (right now, Ford is offering their employee discount to anyone, so you get to knock off $5K) and the Mini came out to $39K. (I uhh… put a few extras onto it. *blush* but what a car I made!) (Trying again, I got it to come out to $35K.) The monthlies were going to run me about $900 not counting insurance (~$250). So I’m looking at spending about $1,150 a month for 4 years. Damn, that’s a hell of a lot.

Sad, it’s 10 pm and I’m just beat. I guess it’s time to go home and go to sleep. Looked at the Honda S2000. ($35K as I configured it.) Now it’s 11 pm. Definitely time to go.

Gah. Read some LJs and ended up getting sucked into writing a post for someone that took the better part of the hour. The post unfinished, Lulu’s started to close up on me, so I packed everything up and then ran smack into the middle of huge crowds of people. (This was at 12:10 am on Pacific.) Apparently, the latest Harry Potter book had just gone on sale at midnight so there were droves of people downtown snatching it up.

I walked home, scrapped the whole post and just put up my condolences. Gods. I really like to hear myself talk.

Speaking of which, I have *got* to get these long posts under control.
