stuff and things

We went and saw How to Train Your Dragon in 3D last night.  It was my first 3D movie experience, and I must say, while it was pretty cool, I doubt 3D will take over completely.  Apparently that movie in particular was really phenomenal for a 3D movie, and I could only tell it was in 3D for about half the time I was watching.  That being said, the half that I could tell was really sweet!  The movie itself was one of the best ones I've seen recently (meaning in the last 6 months, since I hardly ever watch movies).  The main dragon character acted like a friendly cat with wings, and now I want a plushie of him to go with my plushie Maw. :P  Since that's probably not going to happen (all the ones online are from the book instead of the movie), I will have to be patient and just wait until I can get a real kitten.

ANYWAY, I really liked it, and would recommend watching it.  It's a really cute movie even if it ***SPOILER*** falls into the typical children's movie ending cliche (meaning it's all happily ever after).

In other news, rhb finished his book WGMD!  Ending word count is 188k for the first draft.  I think it has great potential to get published and am quite proud of him.  He finished it in just over 4 months.  We went out to the movie last night as a celebration date. :)

I made caramels for the first time last week.  They turned out really well (aside from issues with the pan being the wrong shape, leading to the caramels being odd sizes), but of course I didn't take a picture.  Rest assured they were delicious.  Recipe here.  I was prompted to make these because I bought a half gallon of whipping cream at Costco.  Half gallon?!?  I don't know what I was thinking... I only needed 1 1/2 cups.  So I had to find a way to use up the rest of it in a hurry, and this worked pretty well.  Only a little bit ended up spoiling.  Or it might still be good, I haven't checked, but it expired a week and a half ago.  So... yeah.  Anyway, don't buy a half gallon of whipping cream unless you have plans for using it all.  And one cream pie is not sufficient plans.

I discovered a new tower defense game that I like besides Plants vs. Zombies - it's called Pixel Junk Monster (on the PS3 network).  And you can play it 2 player!  Happy day.  Games are almost always more fun when I can play them with rhb.  The only thing is this game is much harder than Plants vs. Zombies, so it takes me a good 3-4 tries to beat any given level.  Then again, maybe I need a challenge. XD

I found frozen sweet potato fries at Costco, and a huge bag of salt water taffy.  rhb and I were both extra pleased with the trip!  That makes up for the fact that they stopped carrying the white sauce we like... or any white sauce at all (besides the expensive deli kind) for that matter.  I mean, sweet potato fries!  How can you beat that?  So delicious.

I'm sure lots of other really interesting stuff has happened, like the fact that we got new annoying upstairs neighbors that we are 95% sure have dogs even though they aren't allowed to and we hear them stomping around and whining all the time (the dogs and the people both), but I can't think of any of it right now.  Possibly due to the fact that I have felt really out of it all day (maybe related to my sore throat, but it is uncertain).
