GI: JOE, suprisingly good

This movie is suprisingly good. Frankly, between Marlon Wayans, the internation political situation for the last eight years, and some squirrely costume and script choices it didn't look good for the movie. The movie ends up being like the more outrageous James Bond movies that you had in the 60's, where the bad guys had the Giant Volcano/Undersea/Outer Space lair. It's a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously and at the same time isn't filled with dogs humping or similar lowbrow fart and poop jokes. Sure, the lines all have a certain amount of cheese to them, but not in the "cringe so bad it takes you out of the movie"-way.

There were small little nits, the lips on Snake-Eyes mask was a little creepy. Also certain story elements were just a little "too neat", most of the characterization was decent.

The big lesson here is that a film is better when the director isn't a self-important ass and the writers don't think the audience is age 8 with an IQ of 60.
