For quite some time I've been waking up around 5 or 6 in the morning. I chalked this behavior up to living in Colorado, forcing myself to be an early riser thanks to my long-time job out there and being an early riser became a habit which is seemingly unbreakable.
Just last week I had an odd thought about being an early riser. Typically when I wake, I usually engage in self-abuse (to be genteel about it) and I thought, "Maybe my body is waking up because it wants that rush from the act." As my emotional challenges wax and wane, so does my morning routine. In the spirit of science, I'm going to see how long I can go without engaging in self-abuse and see if my body eventually gives up which returns me to a more reasonable sleep cycle. Moreso, see if my performance does improve.
