and yet another thing... a dream

I was at a resort and the dream implied the location was Florida. While frolicking in a pool with shadow people, I discovered we had a great, eye-level view of the ocean several yards away. The water was becoming rough and some people started to panic. I pulled myself out of the pool, pressed against the resort building and waited for the inevitable flood. In the dream I had to rescue one possession and I believe it was a book. Logic going through my head was the book needed to be wrapped in several plastic bags to prevent getting soaked through. The water rose steadily, the book was in a single bag but at the moment I was more concerned with survival.

My interpretation is the ocean is my subconscious, and the 'tsunamis' are just the numerous things it needs to convey to me over a lifetime of repression. Despite my dalliances with mushrooms, I believe I've only touched the surface.

As for the book, that's a more practical thing. My copy of Other Minds: The Octopus, the Sea, and the Deep Origins of Consciousness arrived yesterday along with my replacement umbrella. When I opened the box, the book had a few drops on the dustjacket. Also the dustjacket near the spine had a tiny tear which bugged me a little. My subconscious was aware of this and conflated the situation to the one in my dream.

No problem, my subconscious's experience with the world is minor compared to my brain's left hemisphere. Without context, and being metaphorical, a pebble in ones shoe suddenly becomes Mount Everest before investigating the matter.
