Guess where we went instead of the mountains…bum, bum, bum…THE KEYS!!! It was amazing and so much fun! We were there with Uncle David, Aunt Jackie, David, his neighbor/friend L.J., and Mr. And Mrs. Mary. Uncle David had pulled his boat down from Clark’s Hill enabling us to go deep-sea fishing (but we didn’t catch anything) and snorkeling to see the reefs and scout for lobster. The unfortunate part was that my family left yesterday, which was just the first day of lobster season. We heard from Uncle David during the ten-hour drive home, and he told us about what they caught (A BUNCH!). Monday was L.J.’s nineteenth birthday, so we had a mini-party, and Mrs. Mary made a wonderful cookie-cake. Every dinner, the “children” were grouped together, and Hayley and I heard our fair share of crazy stories and imitations. L.J. and David are hilarious! They have this terrific sardonic humor, accompanied by a dry wit, and just love to make smart comments. Of course I knew all of this since I’ve vacationed with David more times than I can remember and I’ve been around L.J. quite a bit before also. I love it! I WANT TO GO BACK!
The extremely depressing part is that school starts in exactly one week. We drove into town and bought some new uniform blouses and school shoes, etc. today. Did anybody now that the public schools don’t start until the sixteenth? I wish we started later! I can deal with getting out a few weeks later also. It’s not as though anybody else is going to be finished with school when we’re sitting at home towards the end of May, bored out of our minds. And I still haven’t decided what to do about French III. Maybe I’ll receive some brilliant revelation tonight that solves the entire situation. Even though I’ll be mourning my return to school, I send fond tidings to all. ~ME~
