We're back up in McCloud now, and had an eventful trip (the good kind).
We saw a total of three bald eagles... 1 mated pair engaged in what looked suspiciously like a courting/mating flight (that actually sounds nice). The pair had tails and heads white, so full mature. The younger I suspect to be offspring. Not a complete juvenile as it was dark, and it had it's head white, but not totally mature either. Nice to see them making a comeback in the valley.
Also, there was the usual gajillion snow geese on the pond out in the wildlife reserve. The pond outside Nubieber actually had a couple SWANS as well as the usual ducks. Saw a hawk. More swans out in the Fall River Valley. A bunch more ducks, the mallards and a white/black duck I couldn't remember the name of. Some ravens along Hwy 89... Lots of opportunity to give the 3 kids impromptu wildlife and biology lessons.
>.> And Meghan nearly just called me mom... XD She just walked into my room, spread her arms, started to say "Mother!" and then, "... wait. I forgot I was at Athena's house."
*snicker*
Anyway, tired. Got our stuff back inside... time to rest a bit. Soooo want to go hike around Burney Falls by myself sometime next month. Would probably do me some good. And take my flute and the pouch it lives in. Right now though... rest... Tomorrow is Monday after all...
