I'm the worst Resigner, ever

May 11, 2004 17:50

So this morning I woke up with the firm intentions of packing in my Part Time Job number 1 because it involves a hugely long commute (3 hours total) and about five hours of work, so I decided I was so knackered it wasn't worth it.

On the bus on the way here I was briefly uplifted by feelings of power and completion, thinking that this is probably the last time I will have to make the torturous journey on the tubes and the 176, and I did indeed resign and everyone agreed that yes they understood and they'd get another aency person in who could do more hours, and that they were all really sad to see me go, and I said that I'd hugely enjoyed working there and so on (which is true- everyone's so nice it's creepy).

Anyway. So, half an hour after that's all been sorted out my ex-boss (whose PA I was) reaffirms her sadness and asks me if instead I want to come and work as a Research Assistant and help write up Policy documents for a couple of months and I agree to this scheme, so I've got a new temporary career effective next week.

The commute is still the same pain but I get to work flexible hours so I don't have to kill myself to be at the desk at a particular time and I'll get a swanky new email address. And the assurance of having some gainful employment when/if my Part time Job Number 2 ends.
