Clone Baby
He's a boy with a mysterious birthmark. They're a group of strangers with identical DNA. Together, more questions than Lost and even worse science than Doctor Who!
SPOILER: THEY'RE ALL CLONE BABIES.
I'm really sorry for giving it away.
This is Masamune. He's just your everyday suicidal strangely-birthmarked boy with visions... until a mysterious figure in white tries to kill him.
This is Hiro, aka Matsuzaka Tori, so everyone should know I lose all objectivity here. It's Matuzaka Tori. He could play a POTATO and I would find it riveting. Making him smirky and ambiguously villainous is just a bonus. \o/
Masamune wants nothing to do with this weirdo, especially since he keeps appearing at moments of vulnerability and eyefucking him like it's his job. But things aren't that simple.
You see... they're clones. (I know! It was a total surprise!)
The clones were created for a purpose, and now some nefarious men want to collect.
In full.
And there are more of them.
Okajo is a computer hacker who'd rather be tweeting than fighting, but then he falls for...
Masamune's little sister, the student of...
Higuchi-sensei, an ex-scientist drawn into the mess because of...
Ozu, a tortured bully who used to abuse...
Masamune, who finds himself targeted by...
Gota, a serial killer and childhood friend of...
Hiro, who by the way...
...is in love with Marika, Masamune's girlfriend.
According to jdrama science, clones who meet are hard-wired to have one of two reactions: they'll either be driven to kill each other, or they'll find themselves "instinctively drawn together."
Basically... fight or fuck.
Hiro has fun explaining these "rules" to Marika, boasting that if she just looks at him she'll "feel the connection." He coaxes her into meeting his gaze, and the second their eyes meet... the whole screen throbs red. LOLOLOL.
The power of Matsuzaka Tori: he can arouse your girlfriend right in front of you and you'll be helpless to stop it.
Marika resists his advances (WHY?!) but that doesn't stop him from trying. Frequently. With much hotness. *___* He winds up touching, cuddling, and protecting her more than her canon boyfriend. AND YET HE REMAINS THE SECONDARY GUY.
THEY ARE NOT THE OTP. THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE SHIPPING. THE WORLD IS CRUEL.
"Uh... why can't you stop touching my girlfriend?"
"Science."
While his girlfriend is being wooed by a genetic copy of himself, Masamune would rather focus on other things, like investigating the clone project and trying to stop everyone from getting killed.
It doesn't actually work, but he does try.
Such an attractive serial killer. *sigh*
Meanwhile all the others are fighting their own battles, unaware that they're being manipulated like pawns on a chessboard, everyone careening towards a high cliff with no safety net.
ISN'T IT CHEERFUL? Without spoiling too much, let me just say you'll like this drama if you can tolerate some goofy sci-fi elements for the sake of mystery, mindgames, and murder.
And Matsuzaka Tori. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
