Pride: I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me (except leagues of screaming panty-throwing fangirls).

Pride

He's an ice hockey star and famous playboy. She's the office lady who can keep up with his games and one-up his wit -- and she already has a boyfriend. Together, their romance is set to Queen!

I like to call this drama "you'll never look at your mother the same way again." (Unless you're Kimura Takuya, in which case... keep fighting the good fight, Oedipus.)

See hockey team. See hockey team be tough and manly and drunk on beer and constant shared touches with ample gay jokes... oh wait...

"Relationships aren't allowed between teammates, you know."

Haru and Aki are playing a game. Just a game. No real feelings in there. Nope. Not at all.

God help me, but this is the drama where I fell to the KimuTaku phenomenon. If you don't know, KimuTaku is somewhat equivalent to a Japanese Brad Pitt -- his face sells anything, and millions of women across the country would immediately gut themselves if he ever needed a kidney. His character in Pride is carefully designed to be as appealing as possible: he's a charming player, roguish and sexy, passionate and just a touch wild, nursing abandonment issues with a vulnerability he hides from everyone except you Aki. He just wants a woman to love him! Because his mother didn't, you see.

And he's one classy dude.

LINE UP LADIES.

"Dating still isn't allowed between teammates."

Their relationship started as a game, but of course it develops into more. Only problem is, Aki's loyalty lies elsewhere -- her boyfriend is overseas and she's been waiting on his return for two years.

Haru is attracted to her devotion, because he's always wanted a mother like that. I mean girlfriend.

Aki falls for Haru too, because she, well... has eyes.

Hands. *___*

I cannot make this up: Haru looks at Aki with love and wonder in his eyes upon hearing how she would treat him, if she were his mother.

*swoons*

Not quite Iryu levels of nudity, but I'll take it!

Gotta love a self-aware woman.

Manly men, you see, are always bursting for a friendly manly fight.

Or... more.

Mmmmmmhmmm.

Er...

The jokes make themselves, really.

GO TEAM!
