Catty lumpkin

Taz the cat was most displeased at
noradeirdre not being home for most of the weekend.  He wandered around the house looking suspicious and meowing, which granted does sound like normal cat behaviour, but I swear there was a patina of displeasure on the whole thing.

On Friday night, instead of sleeping on the end of the bed like he usually does, he stayed downstairs on the couch, like a protective father waiting up for his long-past curfew teenage daughter to come back from a disco dance party in order to give her a verbal rollicking.  Although I prefer to say that he was missing her and waiting for her to come home before going to bed.

Since Saturday was hotter than a pair of coal-fired underpants, I ran the AC on a low setting to keep the house comfortable.  Taz was immediately fascinated by the novelty of blasts of cold air coming out of the floor and walls.  I came back from shopping to find him sitting in front of one of the vents, staring at it, waiting for it to do something.  I asked what was going on and he gave me chapter and verse about the strange blowy cold thing; I assume that's what it was because I don't speak cat, but he was very vocal about it.  As the day progressed he stopped trying to find an explanation and just decided to curl up and sleep next to the thing.

After picking Nora up, spending some time with her family and dropping her sister off at the airport, we stopped at Target to pick up a washable slipcover for the sofa which Taz could cover with hair to his heart's content.  While we were there, we also got a small kitty playhouse thing for Taz, assembly required.  It's very colourful and looks nothing like the picture on the box, but he seems cautiously interested in it.

Then we had to go back to the airport to pick up her sister because US Airways suck (3.5 hours sitting in a plane on the tarmac).  We ended up having a quick bite and a couple of beers at the new Highland Kitchen in Somerville, then Katie stayed overnight with Nora's cousin who lives in Somerville so she could catch her 5:30 flight in the morning without us driving her down from Salem.  The Highland Kitchen is very nice and I am sad that I no longer live three minutes around the corner.

That is the news about my cat!
