Car Troubles

Sep 19, 2007 11:01

This morning as I was pulling out of my parking space, my car suddenly died on me. Completely died on me. No trouble starting it; no warning of troubles ahead; and then no power, no engine, no anything.

I'm virtually clueless when it comes to cars, so I don't really know what happened beyond the basic it just isn't working. Since the entire power system seems to have given up the ghost, I couldn't unlock my door using the power locks. This induced a moment of sheer terror as I imagined being locked in my car for an undetermined length of time. Fortunately, the logical part of my brain was still functioning enough to remember that one can *gasp* unlock car doors automatically.

Thankfully the maintenance guy and a random guy from my building were willing to help me push my car into a parking space, however haphazardly it may be positioned there. Unfortunately, I don't have time to call a mechanic until after 4 PM. Ugh. Not to mention the fact that I have to take the shuttle back home, which will simply make the whole ordeal take longer.

Blah. Today is not a good day. I was up til ungodly hours last night "working" on two papers due today that I still haven't finished. (In fact, I'm supposed to be working on them now. I should probably get on that.) I'm tired and cranky and really don't want to have to deal with mechanics who are bound to rip me off or erratic shuttle systems.

washu, rantification
