I took Lexie and Kaiden and met Michelle (from GM) and her little boy, Josh, at the aquarium. It was nice to meet another GM, and we had a lot of fun. Josh is such a sweetheart. Since it was a holiday, it was sooo busy in there...yuck. It ended up taking me 4 fucking hours to get home, when it should only take me an hour. First, I decided to walk to the skytrain because my shoulders were sore and I was afraid that the bus driver would make me lift the stroller up instead of letting me use the lift (most of the busses that run around there are not the low-floor kind), that added a half hour onto my trip, which I didn't mind.
But, when we got to the Skytrain, it just sat there for ten minutes before going. Then it sat for another ten minutes at the next stop. The train was really crowded buy the time we finally got to the next stop.I had the stroller right up against the doors, and there was another stroller beside me, so we were basically blocking the doorway (no, we didn't have a choice) on that side. So whe the doors opened up, instead of waiting for some room to open up, these two men step in front of our strollers. The people behind us were trying to tell them that they needed to get off the train and asked them to get step off so one of the strollers could get off and let everybody out before we got back on. They weren't going to until someone pointed out that the train wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. So, I got the stroller off and let the people behind me off the train, and the two assholes, along with about 6 other people, decided to sneak n the train before I could get back on. There wasn't enough room for me to get the stroller back on. I told everyone that there was no way I was getting off the train, I was on there first. Fuck that. Eventually everybody moved around to give me room to get on, only because some guy that was waiting for the train yelled at them. Err.
So, we finally get to the next station and we're told to get off the train and switch tracks....go to the next station and we have to get off this train, cross to the other Skytrain line and ride the long way around the city. When I got to the Comercial Drive platform, there were these two huge guys fighting and I was really scared....of course when I get on the train one of them sit right behind me. Fuck I was scared. Then the guy beside me drops a full bottle of wine and there's glass everywhere and the fucking train smells disgusting. We had to switch trains one more time and then were finally on our way home. What a fucking trip. Poor kids got home 2 hours late for dinner and right before bedtime. I swear, everytime I try to take the kids somewhere like that on my own, I have a huge problem with the skytrain or bus or something.
