Six years of working with the character of Angeleigh St. Martin. At least two and a half years of role-playing her in the HP setting.
Four years of writing her story in various versions and incarnations.
Two years of intensive, nonstop writing and revising and editing what will be the final version of her story.
Which boils down to four heartbreaking, gutbusting, lifekilling semesters making that story publishable.
One final semester of intensive, painful, irritating, painstaking edits.
Three weeks polishing it all to shining.
One last day of print-preview checking.

Literally hundreds of dollars of postage.
My sanity.
My correcting.
My apartment's general, regular cleanliness.
My cooking.

But the end justifies the means. The cost was well worth paying, for what I've ended up with.
