Recap of the holidays.

Dec 30, 2004 01:08

My (short) holiday has been going well. It's been filled with sleeping, relaxing, movie-watching, more sleeping, and most importantly, hanging with friends. Boxing Day shopping was pretty successful and I am now a proud owner of a digital camera.

I finally purchased LOTR: ROTK extended edition and I've been a having a blast going through the appendices since I absolutely love 'behind the scenes' stuff. I've been doing the same thing with my Garden State DVD but I haven't been in the mood to rewatch the movies fully yet. Instead, I started Farscape, season 2 episodes, which finally finished downloading a couple of days ago. Alias starts in a week and I'm getting revved up for it.

Had a movie marathon today and saw Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Ocean's Twelve, and Closer. BJ2 was not as good as the first one but we were there for Colin Firth so it doesn't really matter. We missed the first bit of O12, which was a bit disappointing for me since I'm a rabid fan. (OMG I missed a George Clooney scene! BLASPHEMY!) It was different than the first one but I loved it anyway and laughed my ass off. I enjoyed the fucked-upness of Closer and there were some really powerful and well acted scenes in the movie. The first couple of notes of Cold Water was played throughout the movie and I kept expecting Damien Rice to start singing.

There were a couple of scenes in BJ2 that were shot in Thailand. The characters were on the beach staying in huts and the backdrop was this gorgeous, gorgeous ocean and all I could think of was the tsunami disaster, the destruction that was caused and the number of people who have died, who are injured, and the families being affected by this. I don't watch the news on tv too much nowadays so I usually keep up with world events online. Everyday, I dread checking the news sites because the news can only get worst and the death toll just keep on rising. They're expecting the death toll to reach 100,000. 100,000. I know it's a huge number, I do, but it's like my brain can't seem to fully understand it. As much as I'm dreading going back to school, I'm anxious to go back to see if I can make myself useful and help raise money for the relief fund.

Onto more cheerful news, Jamie and David are finally engaged. Congrats! I'm absolutely ecstatic for them. *grins like an idiot*

I'll end this off by saying a Happy New Year to everyone!
