Title: Silly little romance
Author: hikarinoniji
Group: Hey!Say!JUMP
Pairing: Yabu Kouta/OC
Rating: G
Disclaimer: This is purely fiction.
Summary: Stupid little romances are the best. Even better if you find a way to extent them.
A/N: I needed something non-depressing today so I wrote this.

1.
The first time their eyes meet she can feel the crimson creeping up her cheeks.

She can’t understand the English greeting he mumbles due his strong Japanese accent and the fact that he stumbles over his words several times, but nods in agreement anyway.

“I understand Japanese,” she tells him in his native language and finds it hard to suppress a giggle as she sees the stress melting off his face and he mutters a soft, “thank god.”

She offers him a hand which he shakes briefly, leaving a tinkling on her skin as soon as the contact his broken

He flashes her a cheeky grin while welcoming her once more, in Japanese this time.

She sheepishly smiles back, “thank you, and yoroshiku.”

2.
It’s strange having a girl in the house again and Kouta almost forgets she’s there until a figure in short pants and a loose fitting t-shirt shuffled past his room and he realizes that it’s not his sister.

3.
His mother is delighted, even more because she appears to be a quarter Japanese and she’s fluent in the language.

“I told you it was a good idea to take in an exchange student,” she says during dinner, patting her on the head as if she were a prized possession.

Kouta meekly nods, scared to look her in the eye and turn red in front of his mother.

4.
When he’s cleaning up the dishes his mother appears behind him.

“I want to keep her, can’t you marry her?”

Kouta squeaks and almost drops the plates out of his hands. His mother giggles, “Just kidding.”

Kouta swears he’s never handling china again, while his mother is in the same room as him.

5.
Kouta figures it’s because she’s western, but she’s way too comfortable with him around.

While he’s studying for an up coming mid-term she finds her way into his room and plops down on his bed, grabs a few soccer magazines and starts skipping through them as if they are fashion magazines.

She’s wearing those damn shorts again and he wants to tell her she has to put on longer pants but her legs swaying the air while she observes his magazine distract him from it.

“You won’t find dresses in there,” he mumbles. He wants to hit himself afterwards, because what if she gets mad at him and wants to move to another family, but she merely shrugs.

“I didn’t think Sneijder would look good in a dress anyway.”

From there on Kouta knows he’s in love with her.

6.
Kouta decides he’s going to do the same. Unannounced he strays in her room and occupies her bed while she’s studying.

They both have learned not to turn red in each other’s presence anymore and Kouta feels that’s a good thing. He also has learned to say less stupid things. She praised him for it.

She greets him with a casual, “ah, Kou-chan” and he replies with, “ne, Hikari-chan.” It doesn’t make any sense because neither of them speaks after that but it feels pretty good so Kouta lets it be.

It feels so good that he forgets on who’s bed he is, and he falls asleep.

7.
She thinks he’s perfect. Aside from the fact that he’s on her bed and she’s really tired and would like to sleep, he’s perfect.

Her finger trails over his face, drawing the smooth lines of his features. When she reaches his nose he wrinkles it, so she decides that aside from perfect, he’s also really cute.

She sighs and only knows one way out. She grabs a few of her stuffed animals and moves to his room. There’s a bed free there anyway.

8.
His pillow smells like her hair. Now he only needs to find out how he can keep his mother from washing it.

9.
It's almost the end of the semester, which also means that it's almost the end of her stay in Japan. Kouta is mustering up the guts to ask her out, while Hikari tries to stay away from him.

However, when she's sitting in the garden and her book is shot out of her hands because of a ball it's pretty hard not to run after him, screaming all kinds of obscenities in a language he doesn't understand anyway. While she's at it she also tells him in her native language that she loves him and that she hopes they'll lose her plane ticket so she can stay with him a little longer.

Too bad he doesn't understand it and ends up pouting for the rest of the night.

"You were mean to me."

10.
She's packing all her stuff when Kouta walks in her room.

"Pack this too."

It's his favorite soccer shirt and she looks at him with big eyes. She wants to tell him she can't accept it but he stops her.

"I'll get the new version next season anyway."

They hug and he wants to kiss her too but ends up not doing it. Stupid.

11.
By the time they arrive at the airport his mother is crying and tells Hikari to stay with them.

She smiles sheepishly, "I would want to but I really have to go home."

Kouta's older brother pats her head and Kouta wants to smack his hand away because she's only for him to touch. Then he realizes that's not entirely true because he never made her his. Stupid again.

Kouta's dad just mumbles something about how he liked her gyoza better than his wife's but shuts up when he finds an elbow in his ribs.

Then it's Kouta's turn and he thinks about what he has to do now.

Luckily for him, she thinks faster and he finds her arms around his neck as she pulls him closer. His arms move of their own and encircle her body as his head rests on her shoulder.

"I'm going to miss you, so much, I promise I won't ever forget you," he mumbles into her neck.

She creates some distance and looks at him, "you better not. Or I'll kick your ass in two weeks."

Kouta lets go of her and steps back, giving her a scandalized look. "Wha--What do you mean? Two weeks?"

Hikari sighs and grins sheepishly, like the day they first met. "Did I forget to tell you? I'm transferring to your university. I'll be back in Japan in two weeks, but I'll be staying at the dorms by then."

Kouta just stares at her. Then looks back at his family who apparently already were informed about this. "You knew?!"

His mother laughs and his brother just has this arrogant smirk on his face.

"We'll wait in the car, just don't make her miss her plane," his father says.

12.
Hikari doesn't really know what to say, but Kouta makes it easier for her. He presses his lips on hers and when he's done he whispers, "I'm in love with you."

Hikari doesn't reply before she returns the favor to him. "I love you too."

Kouta pouts, "but I hate you a little too, for making me believe you'd be gone forever."

"I would have told you if you had confessed to me first, but you were too sca--" Kouta cuts her off by attacking her lips once again. There is no need for her to get all cocky, he told her after all.

They break off because there is something buzzing in Kouta's pocket and when he picks up his phone he sees he has a text, "Her plane will leave without her if you keep going on!!!" it reads.

They both laugh.

"See you in two weeks?"

"Of course."

"I want one last kiss," he says and she raises a brow, "to celebrate our silly little romance... And its extension."

She has to agree, that's a pretty good reason.
