Last post on Europe!! (Before I start talking about my other Australian travels hehe) I used to wonder why other people's photos always look better than mine (I mean I know I'm quite a crappy photographer, but still?! Then I realized it's because they EDIT THEIR PICTURES. So I decided to do it for the last post at least. All the photos have inconsistent colours cause I was just playing around with it (and also cause the colour I like doesn't suit all photos haha). :)
We took a deathly 7 hour bus from Paris into Amsterdam, which means I also visited Belgium and Rotterdam (while sitting on a bus la. Uncool) etc. Hahaha.
When we got off the bus, Jasmine and I just somehow kept getting lost/ separate T__T But a kind man helped us out with tickets (and we ran into him both times we were separated, at different train stations haha) and he laughed at us for always losing each other D':
Finally made it to our last stop!! ♥
It was already nearly evening when we finally got settled down, so we only had time to take a short walk around Dam Square - where there was a fair! Yippee!
On the tram! Our hostel was located a short tram's ride away from Amsterdam central :)
I. LOVE. FAIRS. Ok so the bubble guy was just someone hanging about but he does add to the atmosphere right? Hehe.
After playing some skeeball (which I love), we each won silly toys!! On hindsight her bear is really much cuter than my silly pikachu :( On a separate occasion we actually went back again to let the twin play some shooting games, and she actually impressed the stall owner! He was like "you didn't tell me she can shoot!" Hahaha! Too bad she wasn't playing seriously (and didn't know she had to get straight bullseye) so she missed the prize by ONE measly shot. Boo.
We then met someone special for dinner....
BING BING BING!!!! MY BIG SISTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Sisters reunion after soo many months ♥ My sister was on her own graduation trip (to Norway and Poland and other cool places /jealous) so twin and I decided to cut short out London/ Paris and squeeze Amsterdam into the itinerary. :3
She was traveling with some of her friends so we went around together for a bit too!
The next day Jasmine and I went on a walking tour in Amsterdam (which my big sis already went for, so she went to other museums instead)! Many pretty sights and canals which apparently smell better than Venice hehe.
Of course, no country is complete without something silly happening - Jasmine and I lost our tour group halfway D'8 Halfway through the group just crossed some road and we got left behind!! :(
It was really disappointing, but we decided to uhm cross the road and buy some Famous Fries instead.
I LOVE the fries and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Joppiesaus, which is a yellow concoction made of magic. I think after that first packet of fries we had fries every day.
Eventually we decided to go back to the fountain at Dam square to get some help... and we managed to relocate our group! (with slight embarrassment, of course. Sigh.) We then met up with my sister and her friends for some famous pancakes!
Of course, there is more than one 'famous pancake' place, and Jasmine and I walked super far away to the wrong shop and had to leave in embarrassment again. /hides face Anyway we finally met up, ate our lunch (which was nothing special, unfortunately), then headed to what Jasmine was looking forward to the most - the Heineken museum!
On the bus ride there we went by Dam Square again, but it was looking very different this time.
Apparently it was International Pillow Fight Day! If only we had known! I'd have loved to smack some of my sister's snooty friends with pillows. (Okay, to be fair to them, not all of them were snooty. Some were actually really nice!)
And not forgetting the free beer all around the house! Us with my sister's nice friend. (The word 'some' might be a singular term in this case. HAHAHA OKAY I VEH BITCHY I NEED TO STOP IT.)
My twin then got her dream come true - a personalized beer bottle!! We got some for my brother and dad too!
The museum is full of many many gimmicks like learning how to pour a glass of beer, big cushy rooms with TVs, and even a ride where you pretended to be beer that was getting bottled. It was also pretty pricey! But it was interesting, apparently better than the other one Jasmine went to with my parents, and I think it's also any man's dream place to visit.
After this we said goodbye to my sister's friends, and then it was just the three of us! We only had one last day to play together though. :'( Our Amsterdam trip was way too short!
We decided to take a bus ride out to Keukenhof! Where tulips are meant to be in bloom (It turned into spring while I was travelling).
Unfortunately it was still too cold, so we ended up seeing lots of barren patches... :(
I didn't take pictures of the barren grass (obviously...), except for this one very very cruel and ironic reminder.
FLOWER, WHY YOU SLEEPING? :'(
Other random flowers were in bloom, but not the tulips. The most we saw were some cleverly placed bunches. The flowers were pretty of course, but we were really disappointed!
Since it was still a gorgeous place and we had some great weather, we decided to make the best of it and frolic about anyway!
We went to a petting pen!
We went on a fake boat ride in a stationary boat! This was sadly the closest I got to a windmill. (I had no time to go for the windmill tour CRIES)
We went for random cheese tasting and sat in shoes!
We even joined a band!
Then suddenly, we spotted a Magical Building.
Magical Building
"OHH MYY THEY KEPT THE ONES THAT BLOOMED IN A GREENHOUSEEEEEE"
The following photos with just flowers were unedited.
TULIPS ARE DEFINITELY MY NEW FAVORITE FLOWER!!!
VIctory is ours!!! We love tulips!!
Hello cute man and lady :3
After a LONG time in the greenhouse, we stepped out to the other side of the garden - and it looks like we went in through the wrong entrance because the grass on this side was much greener.
♥♥♥
6 more days till the 3 of us meet again :)
After Keukenhof, I left for the airport and started my really long journey first back to Singapore for a few hours, then ahead to Sydney again. (22 hours of flying in total - eeeks!) Jasmine and Felicia went on for another 2 magical weeks without me. /sigh. *shakes fist at uni*
Haha okay I have a brother too, please don't forget about him! I love him very much too.
