Chapter Eight
Late Nights
“The night cometh when no man could work.” - John, IX4
“Wow, this studio is fancier then the one back home!”
“Yeah, check this out, Golf!”
Yamashita smiled fondly at the two brothers who looked at just about everything they could touch. He remembered when he first walked into the studio. He, too, was enthralled and excited over it, but he was young. Though, he sensed naivety from the two of them he couldn’t place his finger on.
“Okay, okay, time to start working,” Yamashita told them. They turned and nodded. The producer led them to their separate microphones. They did their warm-ups and even practiced their songs before they were at where the producer was once more. The man told them what was wrong and what they needed to do. They practiced there in the studio all morning. The only time they went outside the studio was for dinner. The producer warned them about eating certain foods and he reminded them that they were going to record it when the returned.
As they went out, they kept close to each other as they walked to the nearest fast-food restaurant Yamashita knew.
“Aw,” whined Pichaya, breaking the silence. The two more serious ones glanced as he tossed his arms over his head and placed his hands on the back of his head. “Practice was so hard!”
The other two didn’t comment, much less paid any serious attention him as they continued their way.
oooo
After they ate, they headed back to the studio where they practiced even more and harder then what they’ve been doing earlier that day. They were critiqued once more before they actually recorded.
Even though they practiced, they still missed certain parts of the song. They kept recording it over and over.
When the producer finally finished playing with the song and when he said he was finally happy with the results, Yamashita glanced at his watch to see that it was 23:45 (11:45pm, in 12 hour time). He yawned.
It’s earlier then I expected, but I’m not complaining, he thought. He turned to check on the two Thai brothers only to see them against each other just about sleep. He smiled once more.
