When I heard about Obama getting his girls a puppy for when they live in the White House, all I could think was "Jeeze, it must be a real pain to move all your shit for the next four years".

Anyway, yeah, nothing but respect for McCain, he handled defeat with grace, and it's too bad his supporters didn't do the same, because that's what we really need is people getting on board and working together for the sake of the country, rather than letting petty disagreements pull us down. Because when it comes right down to it, we all want the same things: we all want steady jobs, security, a roof over our heads and money enough to buy groceries with, and as long as there's someone in the world stepping up and saying, "hey, let's do that", I think we should really get on it, because there are bigger problems than who was right and who was wrong.

(but god, I cannot stand Palin; I think she is so painfully ignorant and she makes me feel like I'm less for being a woman)

Personally, I think Obama will be a better president: he's more connected to the middle class, which makes up the majority of the country, and he's better connected to today's youth and our generation and he knows what we're looking for in a president, as well as what our parents want, where McCain is a little bit more stuck in the past. Which is all well and good, except that American traditionalists tend to be quite scary to the rest of the world, and I really hope I'm not offending anyone by saying this, because the rest of the world has stereotypes too, and we tend to think White, Beer-Drinking, Gun-Toting, Bible-Thumping Trailer Park Trash when we think American Traditionalists.

The point is, as a nation, the US needs change: America has got to get back up on its feet and remind the world that it's not just bigots and watered-down beer drinkers, and I really do think Obama is the right man to put the steps in place to put the US in rehab and give it the push it needs into the 21st Century, so the rest of the world can stop going "Hey, America, stop playing about in the sand trying to get your ass shot off; you're causing problems for the rest of us".
