Dear Applicant:
Thank you for your application to the Japan-U.S. Teacher Exchange Program for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Fulbright Japan regrets that your application was not selected for finalist or alternate status.
The selection process was highly competitive with a large response from educators all over the United States. However, due to the limited number of awards, not all qualified candidates could be accommodated.
We appreciate your interest in this program and in Education for Sustainable Development. We hope that you will continue to pursue your interest in international programs, in ESD, and in promoting mutual understanding between Japan and the United States. We encourage you to apply again next year.
Sincerely,
David H. Satterwhite, Ph.D.

"Dear Applicant..." They couldn't have bothered to put my name in there? XD
So yeah... didn't get this one either. :P Frankly, I'm not surprised. After the other rejection, I suspected that this one was also a "no." There was one moment, though, when I saw the email in my inbox when I got home and I thought "Maybe...?!" but I wasn't holding my breath.
Bah, this truly sucks. :/ I'm absolutely positive that this was another one where being a science teacher leaves me out of the equation. It really sucks that I have this interest in the country and want to learn more, but I can't seem to get the grants to do so.
My first grant that I wrote in 2007 was science based, which was probably why I got it. These other two (well technically three, if you include the one I wrote last year) are all humanities-based. Since I'm neither a History nor English teacher I pretty much started on the bottom of the list.
Well... I think that I'm not going to let this stop me from going to Japan this summer anyway. :) Instead of going to work, I'll go for fun. :D I'm going to see what my financial situation is in the coming month and then I'm going to figure out if I can pull off 2 weeks in the summer to go and visit. Maybe if
amefurift gets the job she's applying for, I'll stay with her and we can explore Japan together. :D
So screw 'em both - they're the ones losing out on not having me as part of their team. ^.^b
