So I finally heard from the Japan Society Grant... didn't get it! >.<;;;;
Yeah... the one that was my former Japanese teacher, and she even said in the interview that I was probably going to be picked. >.<;;;;;;;
Really, need to NOT say something like that to a potential candidate during an interview. :/
The good news, if you consider it good, is that if they can get the funding next year, they are offering for me to apply again, but I can skip the documentation process and go straight to the finalist interview. The only problem is.. it's a guaranteed interview, and not a guaranteed spot. I can just see it now... I get to go through the whole rejection process all over again. :P
Oy, this is depressing. :/ I'm not even hopeful over the fact that I haven't heard from the Fullbright grant yet - I can just see it now, I'll not get that one either.
I'm pretty sure it all boils down to the fact that I'm a science teacher and not a hummanities teacher. It's not really fair, but.. that's what way it is, I guess.
Bah. :(
In other news, my Japanese exchange student finally came on Sunday. I am hosting a college student, R-san, at my house for a month. She is staying from February 28 - March 28. She has been very sweet - thank God she can speak English fairly well, so communication isn't an issue - and she brought me the nicest gifts when she arrived. :) So I guess that's good news too. ^.^;
