NYCC Report - 4 - The infamous glass booth!

Feb 09, 2009 23:49

I forgot to mention that before we headed off to the press conference, we went to scope out the Nikkatsu booth on the convention floor.

So calm, so peaceful. That poor Japanese assistant had no idea that within a matter of an hour or so, she'd be deluged by uchiwa -bearing Sho fanatics. :D We /did/ warn them, though. We let them know that there were /many/ fans who would be making their way to this booth so they should be prepared for them - I guess they didn't take us seriously, ne? XD

We figured this would probably be our only chance to get a picture with the underwear Yatterman Poster, so I had amefurift and shourai stand in front of it so I could snap their picture. After that, we'd gone to the press conference where we had our first Sho sighting, as previously mentioned in my NYCC Report 3. :)

So... we made our way back to the booth.

Only, it was much different than when we'd left it... >.>;;;

(Note the same Japanese assistant... looking a lot more nervous than before. XD)

Haha! I see your hair, Bethory... XD
So there we were, jampacked, waiting for "our prince" to arrive. XD I flitted back and forth around the crowds, snapping pictures, and getting everyone to wave their uchiwas at me. :D

We were definitely a strong crowd, and I kept thinking, there was no way Sho was going to be able to come down into that and not be mauled. >.>; At least some of the folks standing in the crowd had fun, because the Japanese TV guys kept interviewing them.

Yes, this is where we have the now-infamous Yatterman dance.... XD Altho I don't have a video of it, it's already cropped up on a few TV DLs. :)

So, as we're standing there, they finally announce that Sho would not be coming down to con floor, but instead, he'd be appearing in the glass booth above the convention, safely tucked away from the rabid fangirls. :) So slowly, a few folks began to trickle over to stand beneath the glass enclosure, away from the Yatterman booth. Pretty soon, most of the folks had shifted their positions to stand beneath the glass, awaiting Sho's arrivval.

We tried to sing "Believe" at one point, but it wasn't very loud, since most of the girls present hadn't learned it, and I only had a few papers with the chorus handed out. I was a bit disappointed about that, but shrugged it off - at least we'd had fun bonding and learning the song when we were standing on the line waiting to get inside. :) So mission accomplished in that regard.

And then here's where (in my opinion) it got really funny...

You see, there was this security guard who took obvious pleasure in essentially faking the girls out. he'd come through the doors, and we'd think it was finally Sho, but of course... it was him. I thought it was hilarious, but there were a few girls near me who wanted to curse him out. I was like, "What? It's not killing us to wait. And believe me, if I was up there, I'd be much worse in my teasing."

Some girls are just too serious about this idol stuff.... ^.^;;

At this rate, even my student, yadiraakayari was beginning to get antsy, wondering if he was even going to come out.

But then... he did. :)

I know, there are multiple vids on this moment, and mine kinda sucks, but still posting it if only for the fact that you can see yadiraakayari waving the uchiwa I'd made with amefurift like crazy! XD

Again... I can't even begin to describe the energy and excitement of all the girls when they saw him enter the booth. I'm sure that Comic Con goers were like... what the heck?!?! :D Everyone was screaming so loudly and Sho was just floored by the response. He kept his cool composure, but you could see it in his eyes - he was impressed. :)

The crowd was SIZABLE at this point. Someone shouted to start singing the A.RA.SHI. song, so one side of the crowd began to sing it. Then, once the other half heard it, they began to sing as well, catching up on the second half of the chorus. Sho was positively adorable at this point, leaning closer to the glass as he tried to determine what we were doing (did we really sing it that bad, Sho-kun? XD). Although once he figured it out, you can clearly see in some of the video footage that his eyes popped wider open and he was seen to mutter, "Ooh! Sugoi!" By that point, we'd gotten to the end of the chorus, and when we did the wave "Arashi! Arashi! For dream!" he did it with us! If it were at all possible, the shrieks got even louder, deafening anyone in the vicinity.

yadiraakayari told me later, she was waving her uchiwa madly at Sho and at one point, he actually looked directly at her and waved to her. I was so happy for her, despite the fact that her 一番 is MatsuJun. XD She could have that fangirly moment and appreciate it. :)

Eventually, though, he had to leave and with a final wave, he exited the door.

... talk about your rush. *.*

One thing is certain - NYCC will never underestimate the power of the 嵐 fangirl again! :D

My final report will be on the Yatterman pannel and the premiere of the movie. So watch for it , ne!
