I am getting a horrible head cold. Or a sinus infection. Either way, this really sucks.
We got some snow last night. It isn't anything too bad. The roads and driveway look clear so I'm going to head to the post office shortly. Finally got something that looks like winter. The snow also hides a lot of the dead stuff on the ground so it's not so depressing.
Yesterday I went to The Mannings Handweaving School and Supply Center in East Berlin, PA. Actually, it's not in East Berlin, it's near there. Truth be told, it's not near anything. There is a large creek that runs right by the place, that's about it. I must have been there for a couple of hours. The farm setting was probably the super best part of the experience. They also had an outdoor cat but I didn't try to pet him. I wanted to, but then I thought it would make me want another one much more than I already do. (Wish dad would let me get one.) It was odd going into the weaving/spinning area as I knew what all the machines would have been used for and how to use them even though I have no real training in it. Every room was stacked to above my head in yarn (I'm 5'8" so probably 6 feet). They had stuff from many different countries as well as from nearly every type of source available - sheep, llama, alpaca, silk, bamboo, cotton, blah blah blah. They are the only place I have seen that carries Noro yarn, the expensive Japanese stuff. (I got three hanks.) I bought some sock yarn (big surprise, right), the swift I wanted and a book about making purses. Here's their website:
http://www.the-mannings.com/mannings_catalog.cgi I felt sort of out of place as most of what they sell is geared towards knitters and weavers. Crocheters seem like an also ran type of customer. The staff wasn't exactly the friendliest either. They were polite and all but they didn't seem too interested that you were there or helping you find things. :S But it was a big shop.
Today, I go to the post office. If I feel like it, I may run over to the Goodwill and look for some pants to make into totes.
I haven't read any posts from today or yesterday. I apologize. Just not feeling well enough to stare at the screen.
