It's progressing in my head. The storyline is changing and the ending isn't as cut and dry as I first thought it would be. There are little strings from the previous stories and then how I give the story's main characters an epic lineage.
In the end, this is for sure now, Victor is really Railven. And Railven is finally explained through various flashbacks from what started the tale to what will end it.
We'll see.
I turned 24 years old on Monday! Holy crap I'm like super old! Yeah true that.
My life has come to be something most entertaining. I've been playing a lot of that game called World of Warcraft. I solo grinded a hunter to level 58 and can easily get her to 70 but then I started a new character with my Laura, my cousin, and my friend. That's been going nice too!
Laura spoiled me with Final Fantasy I and II for my PSP. I wish I had the fucking time at work to enjoy my breaks and manage my workload. I know I'll be using it on my scheduled weekends! She also got me these nice ass shot glasses of Star Wars. I can't wait till we Geek out our office! I got mad Star Wars stuff to litter my shelves, and maybe some of Laura's too. She got me these collectors Series playing card, numbered and all, and the box and box art are fucking awesome. I didn't want to open the deck but they did anyways and after looking at some of the cards I sort of want to lay them all out one way or another. But that would require tons of space, which I doubt our office will have. I got this professional style figurine of Spike Spiegel. I love how he's just holding his jacket and has that "i'm fucking beautiful but lethal" look that defines Spike to me. So calm, so relaxed, and so deep. When I opened it up I just wanted to watch the DVDs all over again. She also got me a copy of Hot Fuzz, probably the funniest satirical shoot-em up movies I've ever seen. That movie was a fucking riot and the plot...oh god how I loved the plot. I highly recommend it.
Her side of the family gave me some clothing, yuck but it makes Laura happy, and a copy of Guitar Heroes II and a UMD version of House of the Dead. The game is fucking awesome and I love how Laura and I can both get into it. We haven't found another standalone guitar yet but once we do we are going to jam out! She caught on really quick in my opinion. I didn't think she'd be that good at the game comparing her to her attempts at Amplitude. Haha. Maybe I should bring that game back out and see if she's any better.
My mom gave me a $100 after she busted my tail light! Haha. Anyways, I took her gift and picked up a new MP3 player because I know I've been dying for one. I ended up again not getting an IPOD and joining the masses. I picked up a nice small black Sansa e250R. Best Buy is the only store that sells the R series. And you know why? Because Best Buy fucking rocks and there attempts to steal money from iTunes is worth my investment. For a mere $15 monthly subscription, my Sansa came with 3-free months wooot wooot, you have access to over 2 million songs. You can listen to full length songs, albums, and what not on any computer you "authorize" (of which I have to look into that) with no restrictions. And if you pair the service with the ToGo feature, available only to the Sansa R series, you can load any song you want onto your MP3 player and take it with you ANYWHERE! And you don't have to pay a download fee! Yum!
If you select the "store to HDD" feature you can actually save the songs to your HDD and not have to stream them when you want to listen to them. This is awesome, but in the end will eat up a shitload of HDD space.
So what birthday isn't a Victor birthday if I don't get myself a few gifts, hehe. I picked up a new case for my computer, of which I've yet to use, because my old one is just to gotti and doesn't even serve the purpose I originally bought it for. It is an armored case, good for cases in high traffic areas but my case is safe in a corner and I don't kick my feet out like a spazztic Laura so no need for the armor, heavy as fuck, and I mean heavy, and it has seven fans of which due to all the fucking mods I put on it barely push any air. The super airflow fans I bought are just too fucking loud. So i hope to get that up and running before the end of August, haha just need the cans of air and I'm golden!
I also bought a new LCD monitor. I finally retired my old 17" LCD that I bought back in 2002. My new monitor is a 22" Westinghouse and to be honest it is actually really good. With my failing eye sight this thing looks equivalent, if not just a tad dimmer, then the 24" Samsung I was trying out and it cost less then half the price. In fact it cost less then the 22" Acer I bought Laura for Christmas and I'm going to say they look identical. So woot woot to that!
When I transfer my computer hardware into my new case I've made a list of all the things I'm removing. I'm debating taking out my sound card and using the onboard sound from my motherboard. My reasoning:
I don't have a 5.1+ surround system hooked up anymore so whats the point in having dedicated hardware if I'm only running a 2.1 system.
Also I don't want to plug it a two-splitter for my speakers and headphones. I was reading on my soundcard's spec and it doesn't mention anything about the pass through feature most onboard sound cards have. The pass through feature is present on the front I/O add-on but that is one of the parts I'm not bring over as I only use it for the pass through feature and that doesn't worth the extra 5.25 slot it uses or the power to run it or the ribbon cable that runs from the I/O panel to the soundcard.
So in short EAX isn't need if my sound setup isn't proper to support it.
Another benefit is not having to run the Creative Labs software in the background, which in my experiences has always given me conflicts with my ATI software which just plain fucking sucks!
When I build my new system I'll be looking into HD Audio which will require a whole new sound system. And another thing I don't use the Audio features of my soundcard which sort of just implies I don't need. When I picked it out I wasn't considering what I needed versus what I wanted (which at the time was top of the line.) So I guess as I get older I'm realizing what I need versus what I want.
And you can thank Laura for forcing this on me because just in the last week or so she has:
1. Talked me out of buying a 24" Samsung LCD for $450 into buying a 22" Westinghouse for $180.
2. Talked me out of buying a $55 dollar headset that just looks cool versus a $22 dollar headset that does everything I want
3. Talked me out of buying a Zune/IPOD/Samsung $200+ into buying something I knew would be better considering my usage of the devices, ie my Sansa for $100.
As for the condo...its dirty. But we'll be cleaning it...sometime soon. Maybe. We need a vacuum. We bought one that I wanted based on how it looked. Well that vacuum worked fine then all of a sudden it sucked so badass that I lost my temper and flung it breaking it some more. Haha. So I'm paying for the new vacuum. This time Laura is playing it smart and is reading online reviews. She found ours and the reviews for it were very negative. Oh and I agree.
Laura's dad bought us a name plate for our house and its cute. When I get home and I see it, it makes it feel more like our home. Our name is on the door. I was thinking about the mortgage while I was at work. Well I was actually complaining about how much it is costing me, $1300 a fucking month! HOLY COW!!! But my new supervisor, Raj, kept telling me how all the money we pay is tax deductible versus rent.
"When you pay rent you are basically throwing your money away. At least you will some day own it and what you've paid off, minus the interest, you can get back if you ever sell it."
It makes sense. And I know in the long run we are better off owning then renting. But it doesn't hurt my finacial ego when I drop that hard earn cash. That money could go to financing a nice car, or putting an HDTV in every room, or a new comp every other week.
And when did I start making enough money to drop $1300 a month on the mortgage and still have enough money to pay my for my vices? Damn I've come a long way. I remember working at John's Pizza as a kid. I've always made tons of money. But I earn it! I work my ass off! I work harder then anyone I know. I manage my workloads with effeciency and professionalism. That's why I'm targeted by so many haters. I get tired of that shit though. I get tired of the "Oh Victor can do it" mentallity my uper-management carry. They screwed me twice this week. The first time when they put no coverage on Tuesday, I was off, so when I came back on Wednesday I had two day's worth of work. So I completed four days work in 2 and a half. But I took my time and milked some extra OT out of them. 2 hours OT for me is a nice $50+. The second time they screwed me over was Friday. I signed up for OT and they staffed with me a trainee. I don't mind trainees but at least give me a second person. I probably did 90% of Friday's workload because the trainee isn't very productive yet. And it isn't his fault either.
At least this time I have a supervisor that actually cares about me and is thankful of my productivity. Working under her I have so many perks:
I can come in late and leave early and she won't bitch like Linda would.
I can leave early if I don't take my breaks but I avoid leaving too early because everyone else likes to bitch.
I can listen to my MP3 player, and she's seen me with it and even asked me if I got it for my birthday but never said "you can't listen to that." She just said "just don't put it too loud where you can hear if someone is calling you."
She helped me out that week I needed to come in early and leave early.
It's fucking nice working for someone who isn't breaking your balls over tiny shit.
And the thing that has stood out the most thus far: I asked for my birthday off. My staffing supervisor, a total bitch who I know doesn't like me, denied it because she claimed another person was scheduled off. All of a sudden they are enforcing the "two people from the same department can't be scheduled off at the same time" policy even though that same fucking week the ordeal went off two people from the same department where off. So Raj stood up for me and even made a plan that I could still have the day off and she herself would cover me. But in the end the staffing bitchvisor read the other employee's time off request. She wanted July 6th not August so I got my day off, but if I had Linda as my supervisor I wouldn't have even had a fighting chance. It would have just been "Shirlee said No, so too bad" kind of shit.
Well that's my little update! hehe.
Now I got two hours or so before Laura gets home. I'm going to do a mad dash at cleaning to get a lot of stuff done before she gets home so she won't be super stressed about cleaning.
My poor Moo is stressing out too much lately. As her Frog in Shining Armor it is my duty to help her cope with it. So, I'm going to go climb on my white stead and duel the Dirty Dishes of Condonia! Then tackle the Trash Piles of Homonia. And if I have enough time on this two hour epic tale maybe even get some of the Laundry of Stinktona out of the way. Oh yeah and I have to satisfy the hunger of the Duel Cats of Thissellvania.
Wish me luck!
~Victor
-Have a nice and productive day.-
