Zac Efron is learning to sail!
Shia LaBeouf has been in New York!
Brendon Urie is probably somewhere stoned and writing lullabies.

Brendon/Zac/Shia. PG.

Around six, Brendon's phone rings while he's got a mouthful of garlic bread. It's on vibrate and he has to gate it with his hand to keep it from buzzing right off the counter.

"Hello?" he says, answering. Across from him, Spencer scrunches up his nose, and Brendon moves his hand to cover his mouth. "Hello."

"Hey, my lesson is over," Zac says. "Come meet me."

"Me and Spencer are eating spaghetti." Brendon takes a moment to swallow his food entirely. "You should ride over here."

Zac says, "I'm still on the boat, though. I want you to see it."

Brendon's seen boats. That's a big part of the reason he hasn't just gone out to take the lessons with Zac. Marina del Ray isn't a crazy distance from his house, but it's far away enough that Brendon isn't going to make the trip when he really doesn't have a huge interest in boats. He likes beaches and surfing, but contrary to Zac's occasional counter-arguments, there is a difference.

Still, Brendon packs up some pasta in tupperware and takes it to the pier.

When he gets there, Zac says, "Aw, you brought dinner."

"I ate your garlic bread in the car," Brendon says.

The spaghetti tastes alright on its own anyway. He and Spencer have been getting better at the whole meal thing. Brendon's always thought himself a decent cook in theory, but it's cool to finally try to live up to his imagination. He's not really sure he believed it would happen until now, not in actuality. He's not sure he's ever pictured himself as the kind of dude who owns Tupperware either, but it was a present from his parents, and the containers do come in handy, anyway.

Zac always does people the favor of making satisfied noises out loud when he likes something. He says, "Mmm," more than once, and Brendon appreciates that. He doesn't protest the way Zac leans over and kisses the side of his face either, muttering, "Thanks."

"No big," Brendon says. "It's all yours, man. I'm stuffed."

He'd been wrapping up when Zac called, already halfway through his second helping. Instead of eating more, Brendon takes in the scenery -- the boats at the dock. The one Zac's been learning in is small as hell, but it's pretty nice too, kind of adorable, really, is the word that comes to mind. It's the Toy Story sticker on the back. It feels like some child's personal plaything. Brendon slides out his phone, playing some music as he leans back and contemplates taking a nap.

The thought and the song get interrupted when his phone rings.

Leaning over, Zac says, "Shia," announcing it to Brendon as he picks up Brendon's cell and answers the call. "Hey, are you getting on a plane yet? Tell me you are." He laughs. "No, no, I just grabbed his phone."

"Put it on speaker," Brendon says, reaching out to nudge Zac's thigh.

As he does so, Shia's saying, "-- this costume shop. They had good jewelry. I bought my mom these two pieces."

"What about me?" Zac asks. "I need some cufflinks."

"I got you some Bozo the Clown ones," Shia says, and Brendon laughs. Zac angles his head to look down at him, smirking.

He says, "You think I won't wear them."

"Oh, I'm hoping you will," Shia says, and then, "Did I just hear Brendon? Am I on speaker?"

"Yeah," Zac says. "You can say hi."

"B, I was calling to say that they closed that bar we went to? The one with the crazy fucking, um, over-hangings? Wall decorations. I loved that place."

Smiling, Brendon says, "You loved the bathroom."

"Look, it's not often," Shia starts. "It's not every day that you can read lines of poetry written in White-Out while you get head. That place held a fond memory."

"Recreate it," Zac says. He sets the phone down between them so that he can finish his food. "Let me watch."

"You can participate," Brendon says to Zac, picking up his phone. To Shia, he says, "When are you coming back? Not today, I'm assuming."

Shia says, "Tomorrow," his voice coming in a little tinny and quieter than Brendon likes. He love his iPhone, but the speaker volume could be better. "It's been a few days, dude."

"Yeah, but we both forgot what day exactly."

"Oh, I thought you missed me. Not that much, I'm guessing, huh?" Shia's chuckling a little, so Brendon feels alright to smile about it. "Are you free at least? I want to see you when I get back."

"Mm," Zac murmurs and licks his fork. "They moved the Robot Chicken episodes to tomorrow, but I should be done when I get back."

"Can I go?" Brendon asks.

Zac nods. "Yeah, of course."

Shia says on the phone, "I don't get in until five-ish. I'll just call you."

"Yeah," Brendon says. "We'll have dinner, man. I told you; me and Spencer are practicing."

Zac says, "Good spaghetti, Shai. It's delicious."

Brendon pops one side of his collar, still leaning back. Zac laughs as Shia says, "Save some for me."

"No, we're just gonna make something," Brendon says. "When you get back. I'm still testing this shit out."

"Alright," Shia says. "It better be good though."

"Oh, you know," Brendon says, grinning at Zac when he reaches out to bump his knuckles against Brendon's knee.

Shia says, "Perfect. Alright, I'm gonna go. I'll be back tomorrow. Zac, be excited for these cuffinks."

"I am," Zac says, laughing. "You have to actually have them."

"Just you wait," Shia says. "Oh, yes. Just wait."

"Ominous," Brendon says. "We'll see you soon, dude."

"Yeah," Shia says. He clears his throat. "Okay, peace."

Brendon and Zac say goodbye in unison, quickly, and then Shia's gone. Brendon sticks his phone in his pocket, remembers the music, and then had to slide it out and set it up again. He sets it down as Zac's shifting closer, lying down with Brendon. He puts the phone on his stomach as he hook one knee over Brendon and they stare up at the sail.

"Boating," Brendon says. "You liking it?"

"Yeah," Zac says. He finds Brendon's arm as they talk, curving two fingers around his wrist, and and then tapping on the bone with his thumb softly. It feels like an idle, lazy move. Brendon doesn't mind. "You should learn."

Shrugging, Brendon says, "I'll wait for you to learn. You can teach both of us."
