Oh Spuffy!
I haven't read Buffy/Spike fic in a looooong time. I follow jedibuttercup , but then she is made of oreo cookies and awesomeness and I still love all her BVTS stuff.
So she linked to the Sunny D awards where one of her short fics was nominated and I browsed around for a bit. There's lots of slash and het and random pairings and awesomeness, but most of it links to fanfiction archives who write things in a horrible font or terrible colouring and I don't have readability but I really should subscribe just to get through some of these - I'm sure their awesome - fics.
But then I saw a link for this The Very Small Girl and the Monster and I'm a SUCKER for River Tam in all of her glory so I clicky, and it is good, so good that I start wandering this author's works and LO WHAT DO I FIND?
AWESOME SPIKE MPREG.
YES THAT IS RIGHT. IT SAID IT WAS MPREG AND I SAID IT WAS AWESOME.
Seraph by snickfic is season 4 in character and totally wonderful Spike mpreg. Its mostly gen, with canon Xander/Anya and Buffy/Riley BECAUSE ITS SEASON 4 PEOPLE. But there is a whiff (a delicious whiff that is totally nothing but COULD BE EVERYTHING) of Buffy/Spike and a beautiful, long, complicated and totally not annoying Dawn & Spike friendship.
The Dawn and Spike friendship is really the base relationship of the fic, and its wonderful and drawn out. Spike is still evil, yes he eats people, no he doesn't care, do you care about the cow that made the hamburger your eating? but he's still SPIKE and therefore AWESOME.
Also: the initiative knocked him up. The bastards.
There's 23 (a very good number ;) chapters and they are all wonderful. And there's a hint from the author that she's going to (eventually, maybe probably) write the next 8 months (ie, season 5) of the universe. I'm not holding my breath, but I'm trying to get her signed up to A03 so I can subscribe and get a lovely surprise sometime far down the road.
(have I mentioned that I love the subscription feature? I HAVE SUBSCRIBED TO EVERY AUTHOR AND IT IS AWESOME).
... on that note there was a call for past fic's to be stored at A03. I have a really really bad Buffy/Spike kid!fic that I wrote back in undergrad. I wonder if its still as terrible as I think and if it should be hosted at A03. Ouch. Also an old (and I think my only) Rodney & John fic.
Hmmm. Maybe I should. For posterity's sake.
BUT I STILL HAVE AN EXAM IN 22 DAYS. A REALLY BIG EXAM THAT I DON'T WANT TO FAIL BECAUSE I ACTUALLY WANT TO PRACTICE MEDICINE COME JULY. SO BYE I'M GOING TO GO STUDY NOW.
