Wolverine Origins

Wolverine = awesome!

I so did not expect that movie to be so good!

Wolverine was never my favourite character. He was an asshole. A witty, but self-absorbed asshole. The first two movies his interactions with Jean-Gray made me want to hurl (potentially 'cause I didn't really like Jean-Gray, and definitely because of my undying love for Scott, but still).

But here! With his memories he's a nicer, kinder, funnier kind of a guy! He smiles! He makes stupid faces and good jokes! And he really does give a shit.

I thought the opening sequence was totally well done. I loved the shot of the two brothers through the wars. I love the way they put so much character development in a few awesome shots. Overall I thought his brother was super well done. Fantastic acting, great storyline, excellent shots, and even good dialog!

And I loved the girlfriend! She wasn't annoying! She had purpose!

Gambit was hilarious and welcome, though the accent wasn't heavy enough, and Scott made off my heart, as he always does. But the Professor stole the show.

Obviously.

The end was really, really well done. I loved loved loved the kids. Striker was well played. The shot of his son was freaky. Agent Zero deserved to die, but was well portrayed. Dude with the swords was totally cool and I LOVED HIM and he SO DID NOT DESERVE THAT OMG!

The old people were so wonderful. That entire sequence was beautifully shot. The horror. The pause. The platter dropping.

THE SINK!!

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!

SUCH.A.GOOD.MOVIE.OMG

Maybe they should do a Professor X Origins. Then Mystic. Then re-do X-Men 1, 2, and 3. Or just 3. Since, you know, it didn't exist. Not really. (that movie is dead to me).

This was so much more awesome then I thought it would be. It renewed my faith in the XMEN movies when I thought it would further erode it.

(the end was so bittersweet and sad. Totally needed to happen, of course, but still. Sets up Wolverine to be: Don't mess with him. He's Canadian.)
