The Ball!!!

Here's John n me, all dressed up for the ball!!

It was at the Millennium Hotel downtown.  It felt like prom, only a million times better :)  My date didn't ditch me after dinner, heh.  Anyway, it was so much fun!  All the soldiers were in their uniforms, and they looked so good, and it was all official and stuff.  There were rules, like you couldn't clap or leave the ballroom without permission of the president.  And there was grog...  There is apparently a whole ceremony that goes along with the booze.  It is a disgusting mixture of a dozen different alchoholic beverages (jaeger, mad dog, vodka, champagne, white wine, brandy... some other stuff...) as well as brown sugar, pickle juice, and a sock (if you really want to know, you can ask lol)  And since this mix is so gross, it becomes a game where different soldiers can order others to drink it.  But you have to make the order into a rhyme.  Oh, and you have to ask the president for a "point of order" before you can say the rhyme, and he has to approve it.  It was crazy.  I ended up getting sent up when someone said, "Mr. President, I have a request.  Let us share the grog with all of our guests."  And then any time you break a rule you have to go drink again.  So I ended up at the grog bowl a couple times.  Heh, there is even a procedure for how to drink it.  You salute the grog, dip your cup in, drink the grog in one go, tip the cup upside down over your head, then salute the grog again.  And you can't speak during it either.  Toward the end of the night, I was feeling a bit tipsy and not as scared to talk to high ranking officers, so I stood up and said, "Mr. President, I have a point of order!  Mr. President, thank you for having us, this is a wonderful party.  Please let Sgt. Villa and I drink... uh, because I love the army!"  LoL, he agreed, and John and I got to drink in front of everyone, and there was a lot of cat calls as I outdrank my sergeant.  Teehee. It was such a great night!  We stayed at the hotel, and because of a hotel error, we ended up on the top floor, with this great view of the city.  So great.  :)
