Vacation Day 2

Jun 21, 2009 21:24

More heat, more ass pain for sitting in the car... but now sweet, cooling, sweetly cool air conditioning of Disney is keeping me clean and unsweaty. We've also taken our rats Alphy and Bubby with us on this excursion (without Disney's knowledge, shhh), and they were SOOO happy to be inside. Alphy stayed with me in on my shoulder for a long time, his teeth chattering way (rats do so when very happy) and ever chirping (also something rats do when happy, interestingly). Alphy has never chirped, so you KNOW he was damn pleased to be in a place that wasn't hot, loud, and moving.

Disney is awesome because they get NHK, the Japanese state network. So I can watch sumo wrestling, anime in the raw, Japanese news, fucking weird and disturbing children's programming, and karaoke, which is on now. (Some dude is singing on a dock, and he's in dire need of a stylist. God, that hair looks like it's been through a washing machine in an oil slick.) Sumo is awesome even though it's rigged *dodges bullet*. It's strangely infectious. You get sucked in watching two obese (or the case of the lightweights, not even overweight) men in modified thongs run at each other in an attempt to push them from the ring. I remember last time I was yelling at the screen for one dude to win, like my dad did when watching the game at home. Man, it's fun.

I also love Japanese game shows, because they seamlessly become infomercials. Like the one variety show with a panel that suddenly became an infomercial for some drug that purges excess salt from your bloodstream by making you pee more. I love Japan.

Apparently my uncle now lives in town of Augusta, even though they own the house in the country. Which explains why nothing was there, not even the family dog. Still the flowers were obviously being attended to *shrug* Oh well, we'll catch up with him in the future.

Anyhoo, now for bedtime. Who knows what's going on tomorrow, though it's most likely shopping. There's this great half-price book store in an outlet mall near here (Florida is great for outlet malls), so I'll be perusing the shelves there to add to my private library. Tony Horwitz, James Marten, and Jean Sasson are on my selections currently, so I'll see what I can find. Until then, night night.
