The Cookie Apocalypse

Dec 20, 2015 20:42

So we were baking fiends this weekend, and got all the cookies done. Besides the banana muffins, I made cottage cheese lime drops, apricot-hazelnut bars, and butterscotch coconut bars, and Kathy made chocolate peanut butter chips and chocolate gingerbread. I got all the cards signed and stamped and addressed, and I went to get the boxes for the cookies, and...

They were all gone. I couldn't find a single one of the little boxes we save every year for cookie mailing. I have no idea what happened to them -- I mean, I assume they must have gotten mistakenly tossed in the recycling bin at some point, but I can't see how, because I specifically DIDN'T toss them in the recycling bin for, like, six months, so it beggars the imagination that I would randomly do it in the last week. I am seriously annoyed. I'll have to run out tomorrow and see if I can find any. Well, it won't be the first time the cookies have gone out late -- at least I will probably get them in the mail before Christmas this year.

However, the rest of the weekend was pretty good. I sent a copy of my power of attorney to the realtor, so he can get started with the paperwork for getting the house on the market. I wrapped presents, and took some of the banana muffins over to Mom, and I cleaned my desk and the office room -- we found a little cabinet thingy at Tuesday Morning which was the perfect size to keep some of the craft and knitting projects in progress in, and I got a box to keep all of Mom's documents in. (I have winnowed Mom's documents down to one small box of necessities, from three or more large boxes containing every single bill and receipt she ever received for the last seven years -- and that's not counting the several boxes my brother shredded while he was staying at her place off and on this last year. I ruthlessly shredded the rest.)

Ma-San and Churro got into it last night, sigh. She's gotten him good across the nose at least once, but it doesn't seem to have taught him a lesson.

Tonight we're drinking hot chocolate and eating excess cookies. I've got the next two weeks off, which will be nice. I don't have it entirely to myself, since I have to take Mom to a doctor's appointment on the 24th, and juggle the termite people and the Salvation Army people on the 23rd (yeah, I know, the Salvation Army sucks, but they pick up furniture in Mom's zip code, and Goodwill doesn't. :P)
