Now is the time for all native Arizonans to roll down their windows and drive around with the air conditioner off, sneering at the wussy snowbirds who think 110 is hot. Or at least, it's time for me to do that. We do have the air conditioning on at home, but we keep it set above 80.

What Miss M' said. I adore the characters in your 'verse. It's a joy to read Buffy & Spike in a relationship where their love and commitment to each other inspire them to find creative ways and means to overcome/workaround their difficulties. That's one of my favorite aspects of your work; your exploration of how Buffy and Spike defy (in wonderful specifics) all the problems and obstacles that should, in the best judgement (and judgmental opinions) of her friends and family be insurmountable. Whenever someone tells me that Buffy and souless Spike could never be a viable couple I tell them that I've seen their relationship credibly developed and sustained too many times in quality fanfic to ever doubt it, and point them to NE as one of the finest examples. Your characters behavior and speech are vividly realistic, and their present circumstances developed utterly naturally throughout the series. Their way has never been smooth and all the bumps provide plenty enough angst and conflict to be true to character. And I much prefer having the bulk of the conflict and angst come from without rather than within. That's what I get from your 'verse, and CJ's TBE, and Nan Dibble's Old Blood series, and Miss M's Chiaroscuro to name but a few off the top of my head.
I adore Herself and consider her one of my Goddesses of Fanfic but her latest WIP in the Bitterverse series is just about killing me (in a good way). Everything her Buffy and Spike do is completely in character just as everything your Buffy and Spike do is in character. But each of you has drawn upon and stressed different aspects of their personalities to bring them where they are. I can't articulate it very well but I love your vision of their lives and hope you'll remain true to yourself and write them as you feel them. And I know I'm in good company when I say it, too.
