Shagged out after a prolonged squawk

So it's been an exciting week at Casa Barb. It being September, work has gone from "hell" to "You are living in Satan's firey asshole, and he just downed a platter of Hatch chili enchiladas." I've been working ten to fourteen hour days, and not sleeping well, and Friday I was so tired I couldn't think straight. Literally. I was staring at database code that might as well have been written in ancient Etruscan for all the sense I could make of it. And people kept throwing problems at me and one of our team is out on vacation and won't be back till next Friday, and I finally just gave up and told my boss that I'd work on it over the weekend, but I absolutely had to get some sleep. Which I managed to do Friday night. I'm still running on a deficit, but this morning I managed to figure out what was wrong with the main thing I'd been working on and fix it. Yesterday I couldn't even figure out where the problem was, much less what to do about it.

And as those of you who read Kathy's journal already know, in the last few days we discovered that our air conditioner had a clog in the condenser line, and water backed up all underneath our kitchen floor. ARGH. Most likely the tile will have to be ripped out and replaced, and it;s not at all certain how much of this insurance will cover. I'm wondering if it's time to bite the bullet and, since we have to have it done in the kitchen anyway, do the adjacent living room as well. Insurance certainly won't cover that, though, so we'll have to see. This would happen right after I spent all my disposable cash for the next six months...

We now have four VERY LOUD fans in the kitchen, drying out the drywall. At least the guy from the mitigation company said that it looked like those wouldn't need to be replaced. Sigh.

Needless to say, very little in the way of writing has been accomplished. Maybe if I can get a decent amount of sleep in the next couple of days... work will probably continue awful for about the next two weeks, but maybe not quite this awful.
