If they're buzzing around a trash can, they're not bees. Most likely they are in the wasp family, many of which are black and yellow.

And yeah, those little devils can sting - so be careful.

No, these were definitely bees, unless there's a species of wasp that looks exactly like a honeybee. They were more than close enough to be inspected in detail. *g*

(random bee trivia: Southern Arizona has the densest variety of bee species in the world!)
