Journey preparations!
This is roughly the route I plan on taking to get my new bike back from Lismore:
omg exciting google maps link from Lismore to Westmead :o All the stops are fairly evenly spaced apart, and there's probably a couple more in there than I need. I'm just not sure yet how tired or sore I'll be. Or when I'll need fuel/food, since I don't know my fuel economy yet.
After the first stop at Grafton, I'll have a much better idea. Based on my current fuel economy I should easily get over 300km a tank, possibly closer to 350 or more. Chances are I'll only need Grafton, Ebor/Uralla, Tamworth and Singleton. But resting my legs would still be good. Long trip is long.
My uncle should be accompanying me to Ebor, and my dad was talking about meeting me in Singleton to escort me the rest of the way back. That'd be pretty special, I think.
I hope to take my camera and shuffle with me. The shuffle will keep me focused on riding, and I'd really love to take some pictures on the way down. It's a pretty epic trip to make by myself, particularly on a bike.
The problem is that so far, the forecast looks like rain.
Of course.
Like everything else major that happens on a bike I own.
I ordered a light guard for my headlights last week. No rock damage for me, yay. I wanted to get a tank bag, but apparently the one I want (Ventura Mallory) won't be in stock till next year. But I should have my luggage rack waiting for me when I get up there. I plan on strapping my backpack to the back as well, though I'm not sure how just yet. The rack attaches differently to how my current bike does it, so I don't have the extra hooks to fasten ocky straps across the seat. But I'm sure I'll manage something.
Hoping to get my uncle to do an oil change for it this week, because I won't be able to do one on the way down and my mechanic says the factory stuff is crap as. I need to see if he's had any problems registering it D:
Need to send him a tire repair kit as well, just in case. I'd take it with me, but I don't really think it's a good idea to take CO2 bottles on the plane >_>
Also need to pack, because I know I'm going to do everything last minute and forget something important. Like my rain gear.
So looking forward to seeing
missdeep again. <3 It's been too long, as usual.
(I hear white chocolate will be involved! Possibly due to me demanding it.)
Sydney bike show was yesterday. I sat on bikes :3
Didn't like the Suzuki SV650S (posture was too sports-bike for me), but I loved the Yamaha FZ6S (more upright). I also liked the look of the Diversion, coming out next year. Didn't get to sit on it. Looks a lot like the FZ6S though.
Kawasaki also had my bike there, in my colour.
I was pleased and sat on it a lot, probably irritating the other people there.
It felt really comfortable and looked really nice.
Can't wait to ride it.
