I'M GONNA TAKE IT(BUT THAT DON'T MEAN I'M GONNA LIKE IT!)!
The VH1 "Parental Guidance" movie was actually pretty good.It did have some funny momentz,especially the references to such thingz az Frank Zappa's shit eating rumour,the reading of The Mentors' lyricz and the scene where everyone is getting ready for the hearing.And it was a thrill actually hearing part of W.A.S.P.s' "Animal(Fuck Like A Beast)"on tv.Who woulda thunk it back in the 80's that song would be part of a made for tv movie.For a fan of schlock pop culture that was a kick for me!
Boy,I remember w ay back then when my group of wacko friendz n' I almost got our asses kicked by some jock jerk for blasting that song out of a boom box at a July 4th celebration.
How thingz have changed.Nowdayz jocks blast out misogynistic rap outa THIER carz!Course they all belive in the crap they're blasting.We'd turn up W.A.S.P just cuz it was so blasted ridiculous,we thought it was funny I guess.Trying to share our twisted sense of bad taste humour with others who just didn't "get"it.Oh how timez have changed.
We were either ahead of our time or really out of touch with it.
That very same group of friendz & I also were part of a comedy group.We wrote tons of skits n' such that we didn't know what to do with.We thought about starting out in radio,but we couldn't find the outlet for it.So we tried live skits at various talent shows,and a few clubs,but it just didn't translate well as a live skit.People wanted stand up comedians.I remember mentioning to the gang about possibly making the skits into cartoons.But we didn't know how to do that and I think a few of the guyz thought that would never work.
When I watch "South Park"I see our lost potential flash before my eyez.Many of the skits and even some of the characters remind me so much of the stuff we came up with.The guys shoulda listened to me dammit!I'd be rich by now!!WHY GOD WHY DOTH THOU DANGLE MINE FATE IN FRONT OF ME?Oh well.Such is the way the knock knock joke called life goes.
