TOUCH MY YELLOW SLEESTAK!

Chugging along slowly with some new artwork, not moving quickly enough. The lack of space, the heat and the inability to focus has been my excuses for the week. I need to get on the ball.
But once in awhile a creative has to break away from the work and get out of the house once in awhile for some inspiration. Unfortunately my trek outside to downtown Fullerton for their "First Friday Art Walk" was a total bust. I was expecting awesome sidewalk sales, artwork for sale, artists & musicians and street performers, instead it was a small room hidden on the way to the bathroom of the local museum where one artist had a small display of mediocre artwork. The rest of the walk consisted of, well, nothing.
C'mon, Fullerton. It's only one night for about 3 hours once a month. Make an event of it.
Sheesh, seems no one wants to do anything anymore. Major disappointment.
I did pick up this cool print at a Gothic clothing store-

The artwork is by Leobarda Grijalva. Check out her stuff here-www.etsy.com/shop/missluckyhellcatart

We also went out and seen MACHETE this afternoon. It's a hoot and alot of fun. Also it's inspired me to do some projects involving some of my characters where I may incorporate them into Grindhouse style movie posters.

I also need to start brainstorming on some ideas with the wifey on a podcast we're doing about comic books for the MOVIES ABOUT GIRLS radio network.

AND I need to get some product together for the Long Beach Comicon in late October! Time to get the Ragzart out there old school style. Live and in person. The internet is fine for posting my stuff, but it seems the only way to really get people excited about actual artwork is for them to see it in person, in the physical world. Time to start pimpin'!

The progression for the cover painting to my PLAZMO comic is coming around slowly. It's been awhile since I've painted anything with actual paint( as opposed to coloring things in photoshop), so it's got a long way to go yet. But I'm determined to get more time in doing actual painting in acrylics, oils, watercolors and pastels. Can't sell digital files to people to hang on their walls, dammit. Traditional is the way to go!

Course, there's always prints of the digital thang that can be sold, but people aren't gonna slap down a hundred bucks for a print in these tough economic times. Still, I did manage to spend some time earlier in the week coloring an ink drawing in photoshop and came up with this-

Other sketchies from the week-

Betty & Barney Rubble.

This one I may eventually turn into a painting.

"Sacrifice for The Voodoo Queen", which I may colorize eventually too, either in photoshop or traditionally.

Another Ragz' character I shall call Satan Girl!

Sister Sin!

Parson Pain!

So there's what I got for ya up til now. Lotsa projects and ideas fighting for my attention in my fuzzy lil' noggin'.
Stay tuned for more!

satan girl, long beach comicon, plazmo, ragzart, parson pain, land of the lost, sister sin, machete, flintsones, voodoo
