More sketchbook skittles n' spur of the moment doodlinz-
This is the beginnings of a painting in acrylics for the Plazmo cover. Not sure why I'm posting this, since it's nowhere near done, but I like having a recording of the various stages of some projects. More to come as it gets it on!
Instead of working on that piece today, I got side tracked while sitting at the coffeeshop drawing and sketched up this drawing of Mr.Gene Simmons, who's birthday just happens to be today(he's a Virgo-just like me!).
When I got home, I whipped out some markers and thought I'd give it a colorin'. Then, after I scanned it in, I then got the hankerin' to do some more stuff with it in photoshop. What was to be a quickie one hour sketch turned into a four hour session. I could've spent more time on it, but hell, I had other things to do, so this is what it turned out to be-
Next up, for your perusal, is various sketchies done in notebooks to keep me awake in a few classes-
Nosferatu!
Another weird tv star from my childhood-Rod Hull & Emu from the old Hudson Brothers tv show.
My super-monkey-Zimian Z!
Some half man/half fish creature I came up with. Don't have a name for him yet.
And another Ragz self-portrait-
As I was doodling up one of these, I started to think back(way back in time when the world was still mostly in black & white) when I was in 3rd or 4th grade and I remember one night drawing up about thirty or so card sized pictures of various different monsters on construction paper. The next day I put them all into a briefcase and took them to school. I then laid them upon my desk at school and posted a sign on the sides of the desk that read "Monster Pictures-10 Cents" I sold quite a few of them until the teacher made me put it all away. I think it was disrupting the class.
Anyways, it got me thinking how as a kid you don't think twice about doing things like that. There's no such thing as questioning your abilities, ya just do it and it usually turns out pretty cool. Now, as an adult, I constantly second guess myself, question my abilities and, well, don't want to be dissapointed. I wish I still had that ignorant bliss.
Maybe one of these days I'll just set up a desk out in the middle of the street and sell some pictures. Of monsters.
For $100.
Just gotta get the guts...and a desk.
