So I was at a local coffee shop for my almost daily sketchtime and as I was setting up my wobbly table and eating a yummy blueberry muffin and there was an ol' hippie guy loungin' at a table in the corner minding his own business. A heavy set woman, probably in her 30's wearing a flowery mumu walks up to him and sets across the table from him. She said "Hi" and started talking to him about being overweight.
Anyways, I couldn't help from hearing their conversion as they were pretty hard to not hear.
Just a snippet of their conversation, which I found amusing, and immortalized the moment in a little sketch.
HIPPIE: There's nothing wrong with your weight as long as you are comfortable with it.
MUMU GIRL: I enjoyed the eating that got me to this weight, but it's no fun being overweight.
HIPPIE: You just need to lose weight and get to the size you feel comfortable with. You don't need to lose alot.
MUMU GIRL: So, are you married or do you have a girlfriend?
HIPPIE: No,(laughs), naw, I'm ok.
MUMU GIRL: So what'do ya do with all your time then?
HIPPIE: I drink coffee.
MUMU GIRL: So what do you do to "take care" of yourself then? Do you, go home and well, "take care of yourself?"
HIPPIE: I go home and practice yoga.
MUMU GIRL: But, do you go home and wack off? Take care of your self?
HIPPIE: I practice yoga.. I do alot of yoga.
It was then where I stopped listening and went about my sketching. But I should've listened more because this conversation left me with unanswered questions and, well, I find it funny that the hippie guy kept repeating to her that he "practices yoga." So, I guess he hasn't got the yoga down yet, so he has to keep "practicing" it. Why didn't he just say that he "does" yoga? How does one go about "practicing" yoga, and when does one successfully reach the point where they are no longer practicing it, but actually doing it?
Just sayin'?
Oh, and they didn't leave together. Bummer.
