Well it'z been back to school, back to less free time and back to being an isomniac. Where just less than a week ago I couldn't for the life of me stay awake, no I've flippyflopped back to not being able to catch a z at all. I'm running on about an hour and a half of sleep, I just couldn't konk out last night and I hadda get up and git to school this morning for my first day in "Introduction To Audio" class.
Which waz a very wierd class. The instructor, though a nice guy and all, spent the first hour talking about his dayz working in audio for Universal Studios and how obsolete he iz now, though he will be teaching us the basics of Pro-Tools. It waz kind of an uncomfortable morning. He didn't seem very prepared for the class,so he showed us some Power Points that he kinda just read from and mumbled through and couldn't get the sound samples to work in them. This iz all coming from a sound designer and engineer. Hmmm.
Then the kicker of it all, for the last 45 minutes of class he decided to show a movie.
Which would be fine except it was a collection of SILENT FILMS by Georges Melies!!!! In a class on AUDIO!!!
Sometimes I really wonder about my school. Some of the teachers are just way out there.
But, who knowz, he iz an interesting guy and I can't wait to get my handz on the awesome Pro-Tools sound board we have there.
I gotta get back to work on getting to some animation stuff again to fluff up my portfolio, so I started some rough sketches and ideas that hopefully will fill out to something more, like this little gif of just a small part of what I'm planning.
Caught the "Hellboy 2" movie and really, really dig it. It'z a blast and all the wacky critters wandering about the flick is alot of fun. Ultimatly, being a character designer for filmz would be an awesome gig, and one I hope to possibly achieve, and coming up with stuf like in Hellboy would be a blast. So, it sure gave me some much needed inspiration.
I gotta long way to go yet, but I'm on my way!
