PEOPLE SAY HE HAD A FUNNY FACE,BUT IT MADE HIM MONEY!

By now anyone with a slight interest in Schlock N' Roll haz heard that Quiet Riot singer Kevin Dubrow waz found dead in his Las Vegas home a few dayz ago.Anyone with any interest in Schlock N'Roll and that livez in Las Vegas haz also crossed paths with the tall lanky screecher. It wazn't hard to, Dubrow waz pretty approachable and it seems he waz  at every rockshow goin' on in Vegas, whether it waz a big stadium show, a small indoor event or a club, I've seen the guy at a lot of show.
The first time I actually met him waz when I waz working at Tower Records and he came in to pick up a copy of one of his own cd's. He waz friendly, but a little preturbed that we didn't have any in stock. I remember him saying to me-"Oh, how soon the kids forget". I felt kinda bad for the guy and that my store kinda sucks cuz we didn't have the cd, but this waz in the 90'z when no one cared about rawkus schlock n' roll. The kidz were all about emulating sad sacks like Kurt Cobain and eddie Vedder instead of David Lee Roth and Bret Micheals.
He would still come in to the store once in awhile and luckily we had a few Quiet Riot cd's in stock, he waz a little more chipper then. Once he came in with Frankie Banali (the drummer for Quiet Riot) and they picked up some high def videotape to record some concert footage with. Dubrow and Banali were pretty upbeat and excited about this new project.
I ran into him many times since, at concerts mostly, or in clubs. He seemed genuinely excited about any rock n' roll in Vegas, so all the old longhairz would come out of the woodworks when a fellow 80'z band waz playing.
There waz one night when he popped up at a club where L.A. Guns waz playing and he waz sporting a hot pink blazer. He waz giving one of my female friendz the look over. I kid her all the time that she coulda done scored with Kevin Dubrow but she wouldn't have none of that. Man, why don't my chick friendz listen to me? We could gone on a double date with Kevin Dubrow, her,my future wife n' me! Whatta night that would be!
Oddly enough, I hadn't seen Quiet Riot live until a few yearz ago when they were on the Poison "Rock Never Stops" tour and I waz pretty impressed. I didn't expect them to be az good az they were, but they stood out for me that night because they had a much more 70's British Rock vibe than I thought they would. Kinda like The Faces meets Humble Pie. Dubrow waz excellent.
But now he'z gone. It'z kinda weird not knowin' I'll run into him in the parking lot on the way to a Guns N'Roses show or see him at a club where members of Faster Pussycat,Love/Hate or Enuff Z'Nuff are jammin' onstage. He'z been such a staple of the Las Vegas Rock Scene for so long now that it almost wazn't a show without him in the audience, much less on the stage.

I'll never get to ask him what'z up with this album co ver-

I hope he'z wearing his pink blazer now, makin' it with the ladies.
