Several weeks ago I discovered why an old friend wasn't speaking to me anymore. In the course of our first interaction in over a year, his girlfriend revealed to me some details that explain several things to me.
But now, I fear, he will be angry and hurt that I now know these things, and once again stop speaking to me.
In lieu of these recent developments, I have a small public service announcement. If you are in love with someone, don't date someone else. Or, if you date someone else while being in love with said person, don't talk in your sleep about the object of your devotion. And if it comes to the point where it is too damaging to continue speaking to the person you're in love with, let them know. Don't just cut off communication for no reason. If you do, they will wonder what they did to drive off an old, beloved friend. It will cause them quite a bit of stress and pain, and if you really loved them you would do what you could to spare them that.
Through this I lost one of my oldest, best friends and main confidant.
