in the library, with the mp3 player
So here I am in one of my favourite downtown locations, the London Public Library. Yes kids, I am THAT cool.
I just finished up at the endodontist...ok just finished an hour and a bit ago. My face is numb and somewhat sore. But that's not really much of a change from before now is it? The only difference is that the numbness is more overall and the sore is less. I can handle that.
So todays invigorating session included a bunch of tests to figure out which tooth was giving me problems, including putting really cold stuff on my teeth (I think it was dry ice) and then sending mini-electrical shocks into my teeth. They took a couple of x-rays too and even this dentist said it doesn't LOOK like there should be a problem but there obviously is. Why I gots to be so difficult? Curse my stubborn mouth, curse it to heck. (For the record, tooth heck consists of the sound of dental drills and ice cold water. It's a terrifying place)
So long story short, they drilled a hole in my tooth (why do I keep wanting to type "whole"??) and drained out the pus that was apparently "pouring out." Thanks for that description Dr. Spoozak! (He even offered to show me...I declined.) They squirted a bunch of antibiotic stuff in there, packed it up and ta-da. I've got to go back in three weeks to get a full root canal and spend another $800. There's also a chance that I might have to go see an oral surgeon because I may have nerve damage. The numbness that I was feeling in my lips and chin was likely caused by pressure put on a nerve down there by the swelling and such around my tooth. Thing is though, the swelling is pretty much gone and has been for about two days but the numbness is still there. The specialist was a bit worried about that and said if the numbness isn't gone by Monday, at which time I'll have been on antibiotics for more than a week, then he'd have to refer me to an oral surgeon who can investigate whether or not I have permanent nerve damage. Jeez I hate teeth.
So yah...that's all I got. I should rename my LJ to "Raging_Molars" or something. Har...?
